Mid-Season Vikings Report

Hello my fantasy football brethen, it's time to look over the Minnesota Vikings season. At this point the Vikings players are not producing as well for fantasy football owners, as they have on the field this year. I will go through each position to help you diagnois if the players on the Vikings roster will help you put up points to beat your opposition.

To start off we'll take a look at the quarterback position. Right now, Brad Johnson is doing a decent job as the field general for Minnesota, but does that mean he should be at the helm for your team? Well, actually you should be trying your darnest to avoid starting Johnson. He's passable as a bye week fill-in but to be candid, he has not been throwing many touchdowns and his lack of point production could cost you a costly double-header as a bye week replacement. If you are in that predictiment, you should try to swing a trade or sign a better alternative.

Grade D

Chester Taylor has been a nice surprise to this point. All of us were wondering what Taylor would bring to the board this year, and those who have him on their teams should be pleased with his performance. I know his season has been up and down and his touchdown levels are very low but.....look on the brightside, if you spent big bucks in a bidding war for his services, you must admit he has been a solid back this year. I doubt his numbers will increase this year, so expect the same old, same old with him. If Brad Johnson does go down this year, bench him until his back-up proves he can provide enough of a passing game to keep 8 men out of the box. Its hard enough for Taylor to get yards with Johnson's dink and dunk arm, I can't imagine how hard it will be for Taylor to be productive with Bollinger.

Grade B+

The receivers so far has been lackluster. Troy Williamson looked like a candidate to break out this year but as the weeks have gone by, his production has slipped. If the Vikings had a QB with an arm, I truly believe he would be putting up bigger numbers. His strength is his ability to get down field and make big plays. With Johnson at quarterback, that just isn't going to happen. Marcus Robinson has caught a few tds but IMO I really don't think anyone has the capability to predict when he'll score from one week or another. If you're starving for a fill-in during a bye week, he's an option, though not a really good one. Wiggins has many receptions but thanks to the low-scoring offense, he hasn't scored any touchdowns yet. Everyone else at the receiver position should be avoided.

Grade C-

Longwell has been very average this year. His failure to convert long field goals has hurt his production this year. I thought playing in a dome would increase his attempts for 50+ yard field goals. Since he's failed in his two attempts, I would not expect his opportunities to increase. Adequate bye week fill-in.

Grade C

Chris Kluwe should be avoided at all cost.

Grade D

I thought at the beginning of the year that there were a few sleepers on the d-line but I was wrong. Kevin Williams will continue to be a solid fantasy starter but his days as a 10+ sack producer might be over with. Erasmus James was a player I expected big things from, thanks to a serious knee injury he may never be the player he was capable of. Darion Scott has a few sacks this year, the only thing that hurts his points is his lack of tackles. Keep an eye on him, if his average of tackles per game does not increase, keep him on the bench and find someone who can provide a consistent points each week for your team.

Napoleon Harris has been the biggest surprise of the season to this point. He has been by far the best fantasy defender this season. Unless an injury should occur, he should stay in your lineup each week. The rest of the linebacking core should stay on the bench and eat up roster spots on your team. Don't put them in your lineup unless you have no other options.

Besides Antoine Winfield, there are no other worthy dbs on Minnesota that should be your roster. Rid yourself of these turds and never look back. I know a lot of you paid good dollars for Sharper and maybe holding onto him for a few more weeks might make you feel better but if there is a young stud free agent that somehow hasn't been snatched up yet, don't wait one more second to drop this washed up old geezer and get someone who will help you win games.

Thanks for stopping bye. See you all next time. And remember one valuable thing

To Be the Man, You Got to Beat the Man!!!
Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!

Thank you Ric Flair. Your wisdom has helped guide me to the wonderful life I have.
