NFL Draft
2007 Mock Draft
1) Oakland Raiders: The Raiders need a ton of help and my first thought would be for the team to try it’s best to trade down and grab more picks. I like the way they are looking at all the top guys making other teams think they might actually draft one of them. In the end unfortunately they will go with the biggest gamble and also the biggest upside: PICK JaMarcus Russell QB LSU
2) Detriot Lions: The Lions also have many needs and they would also benefit from a trade down where they might be able to get more picks and still get the guy I think they really want. This is one of the toughtest picks to guess at this moment. Quinn, Thomas, Peterson, Gaines Adams or even Calvin Johnson. I think the fans would have Millen’s head if he takes another WR no matter how much upside he has right now. PICK: Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame
3) Cleveland Browns: I feel as though if both QB’s are gone the Browns will grab an offensive player that can make Charlie Fyre’s job a little easier and what better why then getting a player that can take a ton of pressure off the him as a running threat that this team is yet to have since getting back in to the league. PICK: Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma
4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The Buc’s now have an easy choice as I think they’ve wanted a WR all along this will make Grudens day as the #1 rated player overall in this draft falls to #4. PICK: Calvin Johnson WR Georgia Tech
5) Arizona Cardinals: I think I can just rewrite the Buc’s pick except for insert OL. PICK: Joe Thomas OT Wisconsin
6) Washington Redskins: The Redskins couldn’t get to the QB last year and they also couldn’t stop the run. I think Washington will have a tough decision here as all three DL are available. I think that they will pick the player with the most upside. Many mock’s have Gaines Adams going here but I think the 19 year old that is flying up the board will be the Skin’s pick: PICK: Amobi Okoye DT Louisville
7) Minnesota Vikings: The Vikings will be doing something strange if the draft goes this way, RUNNING up to the podium. PICK: Gaines Adams DE Clemson
8) Atlanta Falcons (from Houston): The Falcons have been looking to upgrade their secondary especially the Safety position. LB is also a need but I think they’ll be able to get someone in the 2nd round with the two picks they have (39 & 44) now due to the Schuab trade. PICK: Laron Landry S LSU
9) Miami Dolphins: The Dolphins were really hoping Landry would fall to them and I also think due to the Schuab trade they might actually move up to grab him. The Dolphins now can look to upgrade their LB position as Zach Thomas isn’t getting any younger at 33 and a free agent after the 2009 season he might not needed after this season. Willis has a TON of upside with his 4.37 speed and 2006 in game average of 13 tackle per game! PICK: Patrick Willis LB Ole Miss
10) Houston Texans (from Atlanta): Not many teams have as many needs as Houston and I really hope someone is here that another team want to jump up and grab a player they want so Kubiak can grab some more picks. But as we sit here they still own the pick so here we go. I think they need to bolster their OL and some scouts think that there’s a Tackle out there that will be a better long term pro than Thomas. PICK: Levi Brown OT Penn State
11) San Francisco 49ers: The 49ers front seven couldn’t get a thing done last year and a speed linebacker would be great here but with the #1 LB already gone they need to get a high energy tweener that can help with the 3-4 D that Nolan wants to run. PICK: Adam Carriker DE/OLB Nebraska
12) Buffalo Bills: With Nate Clements off to greener pastures the Bills need to replace one of the best DB’s in the NFL. There are many CB’s available here but the one that seems to fit best in this scheme would be a hard hitting guy that packs a punch. Most scouts have him listed 2nd at the position but Leon Hall doesn’t fit as well here. PICK: Chris Houston CB Arkansas
13) St. Louis Rams: The Rams have been trying to fill their DT need for years and with one of the better players falling to them at 13 they should be elated and this could make their decision even easier. PICK: Alan Branch DT Michigan
14) Carolina Panthers: The Panthers NEED LB’s with Dan Morgan could be done for good. The panthers have a lot of good players but nothing great. It would be nice to get a guy that could play all 3 positions and be a possible PRO BOWL type player here. PICK: Paul Posluszny LB Penn State
15) Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers reached last year in FA for a player that they thought would be a big upgrade at CB and it ended by mid season when he wasn’t even starting anymore. The Steelers can grab a blue collar Steeler type player here at 15. PICK: Leon Hall CB Michigan
16) Green Bay Packers: With Ahman Green no longer around and Morencey the only other back on squad worth a spit the RB is a major need. Ahman was a great two dimensional player in GB (rushing and receiving) there’s a player out there that could replace him and start right away. PICK: Marshawn Lynch RB California
17) Jacksonville Jaguars: With the loss of Deon Grant to Seattle the Jaguars are in need of Safety help this year. They won’t have to go far to get the guy they’ve coveted for some time now. PICK: Reggie Nelson S Florida
18) Cincinnati Bengals: By the looks of it Tory James and Deltha O’Neal are not long for the Jungle. CB will be a need and they have their pick of two very good CB’s. In the end they grab the speedster from PITT. PICK: Darrelle Revis CB Pitt
19) Tennessee Titans: A WR that can get open in the zone and be a major factor in the red zone is a pressing need for the Titans. Even with a sub par pro day and a 4.6 40 Norman Chow will know exactly how to use this guy. PICK: Dewayne Jarrett WR USC
20) New York Giants: The Giants could go in many directions with this pick. They need OT, LB and RB. Even after missing out on Al Wilson and signing K Mitchell for one year they still need a OLB and this is what they could address in the 1st round. PICK: Lawrence Timmons LB FSU
21) Denver Broncos: The Bronco’s need a pass rusher badly as they couldn’t get to the QB at ALL last year. Their best pass rushers were a rookie in Dumerville who’s a bit undersized and fit for the 3rd down rushers role and a 31 year old Ekuban who’s on his third team now. They need a guy who can pass rush and defend the rush. PICK: Jammal Anderson DE Arkansas
22) Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys have upgraded their OL in the offseason and filled another need at S. The Cowboys need to find a CB that can be more effective than the 31 year old Anthony Henry. PICK: Aaron Ross CB Texas
23) Kansas City: The Chiefs should be looking to upgrade their WR corps this year as there are a few guys left on the board that are rated pretty high. An OLman can be had in the 2nd round. PICK: Robert Meachem WR TENN
24) New England Patriots (from Seattle): The Pats have filled a few needs this off season but they still need to get younger at a few positions such as S and ILB. The Pats have two first rounders and they could probably fill two needs this year. PICK: Michael Griffin S Texas
25) New York Jets: The Jets are in need of an OLB to play opposite Bryan Thomas. The Jets should feel lucky that a player of this stature is still available at this point in the draft. PICK: Jarvis Moss OLB/DE Florida
26) Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles have two major needs this year. A future replacement for Brian Dawkins and a LB that can either beat out Trotter or learn behind him for one year. PICK: Brandon Merriweather S Miami
27) New Orleans Saints: The Saints really needed a CB but all the 1st round graded players have been picked. The other major need is TE! PICK: Greg Olsen TE Miami
28) New England Patriots: The Pats filled one of their needs with the #24 pick. Now they need a LB but Belichick isn’t known for taking LB’s this early. The Pats are always good for a curve ball in the 1st round. PICK: Joe Staley OT Central Michigan
29) Baltimore Ravens: With the loss of some OL talent in the off season the Ravens are poised to grab a BPA at the OL position. PICK: Justin Blalock OG Texas
30) San Diego Chargers: WR is major need and they need to give Rivers as many weapons as possible. Keenan is now gone and there are some nice players available with this pick. PICK: Dwayne Bowe WR LSU
31) Chicago Bears: The Bears need LB and OL. The Bears might need to find a player that can fill the VOID of Lance Briggs. This fight will have no winners. PICK: Jon Beason LB Miami
32) Indianapolis Colts: The Colts seem to have the same needs as the Bears. Cato June left for Florida and Tarik Glenn is getting a little long in the tooth. They also need a slot receiver and a punt returner that can light up the field ala Devin Hester PICK: Ted Ginn Jr.
