Everyone knows that a wide receiver in the NFL is a dime a dozen. I mean there are a lot of them. Some are great and others aren’t so good. But is it possible to pick out a diamond in the rough before the draft? Or is it all situational? I’m going to try to pick up the next sleeper wide receiver of the draft. During the next 4 weeks I will reveal 1 prospect a week until I reveal my final prospect the week of the draft. My first prospect is one that I am starting to get on his bandwagon. His name is Jacoby Jones from Lane.

Jacoby Lane is 6’3” and 210 lbs. I’ve seen mock drafts with him drafted anywhere from the 5th round to the 7th round. He’s a pretty good kick returner and has speed and size on his side when he runs routes. He played basketball at Lane so he jumps well and can catch the ball at its highest point. Another plus is that he reads defenses fairly well and is a good route runner. If he is drafted to the right team he could develop into a good number 2 receiver.

Jacoby Jones career stats:
Games Played: 42
Receptions: 200
Yards: 2,750
Yards Per Catch: 13.8 yards
Touchdowns: 21

Combine Stats:
40-Yard Dash: 4.50 seconds
20-Yard Dash: 2.58 seconds
10-Yard Dash: 1.53 seconds
Vertical Jump: 34
Broad Jump: 10’9”
20 Yard Shuttle: 4.31 seconds
3 Cone Drill: 7.03 seconds

Pro Day Stats:
40-Yard Dash: 4.50 seconds
20-Yard Dash: 2.58 seconds
10-Yard Dash: 1.52 seconds

Next week I will tell the world the next wide receiver that I think could be the next sleeper in the draft.
