1.9 Ted Ginn Jr. WR OHIO STATE

Obviously this was the big surprise of the draft. Everyone thought the Dolphins would surely pick QB Brady Quinn. It was a foregone conclusion to everyone except Randy Mueller and Cam Cameron. Cameron was booed by Dolphin fans in the draft party and did not help matters by saying how great Ginn and his family are and how he had known them for many years. Ginn will now be under an enormous amount of pressure combined with replacing fan favorite Wes Welker. If Ginn has some immediate success in the return game he will be very, very good. If he has any problems in his first few games however, it could get very ugly in Miami.

EFS Value: not much to start but could improve value in a couple years/late 2nd-3rd rd. pick

2 8(40) John Beck QB BYU

According to Cameron, Beck is the reason that they passed on Quinn in the 1st round. Beck will be the first QB the Dolphins have drafted in a long, long time. Eventually he will get his shot playing behind 37 year old Trent Green. The Dolphins also have young QB Cleo Lemon but I expect if/when Green goes down Beck will get his chance rather quickly because the fans will be pushing for it. Beck is already 26 years old due to his LDS mission before attending BYU so maturity should not be a problem but his OL very well could be.

EFS Value: Could have success fantasy wise if Green goes down/ 3rd round pick

2 28(60) Samson Satele OC HAWAII

Satele fills a big OL need for the Dolphins and is versatile enough to play all the OL positions. He should start at center immediately or very quickly.

EFS Value: Could serve as good depth for Offensive Line in 16 team leagues/5th-6th rd. pick

3 7(71) Lorenzo Booker RB FLORIDA STATE

Booker is a versatile 3rd down type back who brings speed to the Dolphins backfield. He could be looked to for a bigger load if Ronnie Brown were to get injured.

EFS Value: Only as injury backup for RB starved teams/7th rd-FA

4 9(108) Paul Soliai DT UTAH

Stout run defender who should contribute to keeping the old Dolphins DL fresh.

EFS value: Slim to None

6 7(181) Reagan Mauia FB HAWAII

Miami going with some more Hawaiian flavor with FB Mauia. Good run blocker who could definitely contribute for the Dolphins.

EFS value: None

6 25(199) Drew Mormino OC CENTRAL MICHIGAN

Mormino continues to build depth on the OL which Miami has been severely lacking in recent years.

EFS Value: Slim to None

7 9(219) Kelvin Smith ILB SYRACUSE

7 15(225) Brandon Fields PT MICHIGAN STATE

7 28(238) Abraham Wright DE COLORADO

Purely depth picks

EFS value: None
