Green Bay Camp Issues-status after 1 Preseason game

Going into the offseason and to Training Camp (TC) the Packers had a few glaring issues/questions that needed to be addressed:

1. Who will be the starting TE? and is Bubba washed up?

2. Who will be the starting SS?

3. Who will be the starting RB?

4. More of a general question- who will stepup and be a game breaker for this team on offense?

So after this week's preseason game against the Steelers, lets see if we can provide an update for each of those questions:

1. TE: apparently there are a lot of bodies in competition with Bubba Franks, like D Lee, C Harris, etc. So far no one has separated themselves from the crowd. Unfortunately, Bubba Franks dropped the only pass thrown to him in that game-reminiscent of last year!

2. SS: Marquand Manuel still has the job from last year. Supposedly Marviel Underwood was going to challenge him for that position, but Underwood is still showing effects of his torn ACL from 2006. The answer to this question is still open....

3. RB: Vernand Morency has been out since Day 1 of TC with a patellar tendon injury. Rookie Brandon Jackson has assumed the starting RB role, for now. It remains to be seen if he keeps it or the Packers trade for or acquire a RB off waiver wire.

4. Playmaker: rumors in the offseason concerning Randy Moss were just that. Someone on this team needs to step up and become a playmaker on offense. Will it be WR Jennings or perhaps rookie WR Jones? Maybe one of the TE's will suddenly blossom? It doesn't look good right now...

Summary: The Packers may struggle on offense to score points against the better defenses. Their own defense will have to provide turnovers, lots of them, for this team to get to or better than a .500 record
