2008 Off-season Review for the San Diego Chargers:

Just to get everyone up to date and caught up on the comings and going of the Bolts some far this off-season. We started off with the loss of stud PK Josh Brown who left for the Arch in St. Louis. They later signed Olindo Mare from MIA who hasn’t been promised the job just a shot at being the #1 guy.

Next they had a BIG signing in the back field but I don’t mean impact I mean in size. The Seahawks added former ATL, WAS RB T.J. Duckett to the back field. T.J. hasn’t ever really got a ton of carries so he is at the very least rested. I see his services being utilized as a goal line back or a short yardage back. Problem there is that hasn’t ever been his strength.

Next came back to back moves with a big loss and a big gain. First Chuck Darby jumped ship to the Lions opening the door for Marcus Tubbs to show what he’s made of. Next we signed DAL RB Julius Jones former 1000 yard back. This move has numerous implications for 2008. Does it mean that Shaun is on the outs as he’s been injured numerous times over the last few years and his age is also a major concern? Julius can carry the load with spells from current RB Maurice Morris to make up a decent attack.

Here is the biggest loss to date D.J. Hackett a WR that seems to be coming into his own but just wanted to much cash or just out of Seattle. The funny thing is his contract with the Panthers doesn’t seem to be a bank buster (2 yr @ $3.5 million). So it seems that the latter would be the main reason. We wish you the best in CAR and maybe we’ll see you in a few years as Deion Branch hasn’t really panned out (for a #1 pick that is).

Most recent the Hawks locked up Marcus Trufant with a six-year contract worth $50.2 million that includes a $10 million signing bonus and $28 million that will be paid out over the first three years.

Now we move on to the draft……… I’ll be back after 4/28 to review that in full.
