2008 San Diego Charger Draft Review:
Round 1, Pick 27 (27) - Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona – some had this kid as the #1 corner. But since the end of the season people seem to forget about that players have done in their career and measure more people on their size, shape and speed. Cason is a shutdown corner in the making he has it all the ball skills the attitude and the ability. Good pick Hawks!
Round 3, Pick 6 (69) (From Raiders through Patriots) - Jacob Hester, FB, LSU – moved up to grab the jack of all trade in this draft. The major issue with FB Hester is the blocking ability. Not his best trait. He can get through the line and can catch the ball out of the back field.
Round 5, Pick 31 (166) (Compensatory selection) Marcus Thomas, RB, Texas-El Paso – 6’1” and 215lbs. Ran and caught the ball at UTEP but looks to be just a short yardage back as a 4.6+ 40 time doesn’t get you far in the NFL.
Round 6, Pick 26 (192) - DeJuan Tribble, CB, Boston College - showed a lot of promise at BC but has been inconsistent. Seems to get lost in man coverage but a very physical tackler that might be a better match for safety.
Round 7, Pick 27 (234) - Corey Clark, OT, Texas A&M – 3 year starter with the Aggies. Helped the Aggies average over 200+ rushing yards all three of those years.
