With the trade deadline over, let's take a look at the league.
First thing to note is how many teams have a shot at the playoffs. With close division races anywhere away from the Legend, i count 11 teams vying for 5 playoff spots. This typifies how the season started as most favorites, those teams that have made the playoffs in most seasons, lost while most underdogs won. Topsy-turvy season which could put some new faces into the playoffs. Possible first-time playoff participants = Soggy Bottom Boys, Raven Maniacs & Warlord Phantoms (although their OIDs have been there before), Sic Sic Sic um Dogs and Beast From the Northeast.
Second item to look at are the last minute trades (11/06-and-on), all of which involving the aforementioned playoff pool except for Z, who gutted his roster to try to return to domination in 2009. Soggy made a couple of minor moves to shore up his defense. Mephisto tried to improve at WR & ILB depth. Warlord traded DE depth for extra help at TE & OLB (w/McAllister now on IR). Lost and Found traded for WR depth. Beast entered a monster trade with Legend trading for a bunch of 2-thru-4 picks and depth while Legend picked up a couple good OL & a good safety. Outside of that huge trade, Legend shored up his DEs with 3 good ones, kevin williams, antonio gates and Matt Roth, only losing Randy Moss (ignoring picks). So i think the big trade winner, who already had a huge lead on the pack as it was, was Roy the Legend.
So what does this mean for those that could fortunately make the playoffs but unfortunately face what most likely will be the top seed? I'll do that next...
