While the site itself has been running fast and smooth since the last big update and Stan's EFS wide email, I have the feeling that the EFSnews & Forums module have been very slow and filled with hiccups...
Anybody else having issues with loading the Forums? Getting the pages smoothly without timeout errors or "page not found"?
Is it me or the system? Pinging from DNS 200.83.1.5.
Thanks for letting me know!

We had a Mail Spammer get thru our gateway about 2 weeks ago. It seems that as soon as a "hole" is found they spread this in the "spammer" community. We have been hit with about 3 or 4 "DOS" (Denial of Service) attacks because of this daily, they now seem to be slowing down since they can no longer relay thru us.... we shall see.
The theory is that after a week or 2 of seeing that we fixed the problem they will move on. My assumption is this is what you are seeing. We continue to monitor this and protect as much as we can.
On a further not, we are adding one Gig of memory and another XEON processor to the News and Forums site, If it was horsepower, and I don't think is was, this shall fix it.
Thanks,
sid

i think the problem actually was found locally on my machine. please send me a gig of memory to fix the problem in my home pc.
:) just kidding
The CPU upgrade was done today, the Memory DELL shipped was wrong, so we will have to send it back and get the right stuff. However, I see no performance problems with this server since it now has 2 XEON processors running in Hyper-thread mode and already had a gig of memory of which we are using about half.
