Gentlemen,

With week 13 down to one NFL game remaining (Seattle @ Philadelphia) the playoff picture is close to clearing up. Here is the way I see it going into tonight.

1st round byes

#1 Ribbi's Player Men 14-4
#2 Bentonville Barnstormers 13-5

Other divsion winners

#3 A Plethora of Pinatas 12-5
#4 Oiliminators 10-8 (projected win after Monday Night Game - Shaun Alexander and Lofa Tatupu vs. Sean Locklear)

Wild Cards

#5 Mockba Marauders 11-7
#6 The Pooh Zero 10-8 (383 & Joe Jurevicius vs. Mass. Destruction 373 & Leroy Hill)

If Pooh Zero Loses the Pig's Restoration Project 9-8-1 would assume the #6 seed.

Congratuations forthcoming to Plethora of Pinatas for taking over an 0-18 team and making the playoffs as a division winner no less. And a special note to Oiliminators who suffered through a tough 2004 with some very tough losses that were not indicitive of his average (trust me Randy, I know how you feel!)

Oh yes, the # 1 pick is. . . . A-Town Brawlers 4-14. You are on the clock!

Now on to some business. . . .

GIven the Jack Calhoun last second bail out this year I have decided that I will no longer be using the honor system for receiving payments for our league dues. Stan was kind enough to institute some coding changes that will allow league 0 to process our payments via the website and EFS will now hold our fees and issue our payouts.

I feel this will be a better model because whenever we have an owner who drops out of the league so late in the year a couple of things happen. 1) we don't get a 16th owner to pay his $60.00 2) It is hell on me to find another owner to take over, 3) The team that was abandoned is usually in bad shape.

So while this may seem a bit strange we will be requiring everyone to pay online via credit card or by check or money order via USPS. Payments are traditionally due by January 1 each year to prevent your team from becoming an orphan.

Using my unique powers as commissioner I have decided ( with some discussions with other owners), to extend our payment deadline this year to March 1, 2006.

Given the change in payment requirements and the fact that Christmas is upon us, it seems unreasonable to demand $60.00 in December when everyone has been expecting a July payment schedule.

So here is how it will go. After your team has been eliminated from the playoffs, you may pay for your renewal and you are back in league 0 for 2006. If you cannot afford to pay immediately we will wait until March 1st to declare your team an orphan so you have two more months to scrape the monies together.

Beginning with the 2007 season, payments will be due by January 1.

While some features do start before March 1 in EFS they are not features that would be compromised IMO.

UFA does start as soon as a league is paid in full which could be Jan. 1 or any other time after that. RFA is scheduled to start Feb 1 but lasts until April 20th so a March 1 start would still give us plenty of time participate in this feature.

The main reason for the change in payment is not only to get everyone to pay timely, but to allow for league 0 to find suitable replacement owners and allow them the access to all league features to maximize their chances at building a competitive team and generate a sense of value for their $60.00 investment.

So, if everyone is cool with the March 1st deadline for payment let's press on. Remember, if we all pay early then the features will become available at that time but there will be no pressure from me to get your payments in before then.

If for any reason you will not be returning to league 0 for 2006, please email me and I can inform the league and begin recruiting a replacement owner. I do hope everyone will be returning for 2006 and I will try to be more information intensive in 2006 in my analysis of teams, weekly matchups and such. I was so busy this season with work related issues that I was unable to offer my accustomed level of pot stirring. Of course getting your butt kicked every week doesn't really get the juices flowing either!

BTW, on a footnote, this is the first year that I have finish with a losing record in 12 years of league 0 competition. (everyone please stop cheering!) :>) and both championship game participants from 2004 ( Garland GoodFellas and myself) will not be in the playoffs.

Good Luck to everyone tonight and into the playoffs!

Lastly, League 0 payouts will commence after week 16 games (our championship) are final.

p.s.

I will be allocating myself as GM of an NFL Europe fantasy team in hopes of honing my skills enough to be competitive in 2006 for league 0

Jason,

I tried to pay today but on the payment screen it says I'm paid through 3000. The field that I should be able to use to specify payment amount is greyed out, and I can't type in it.

I'll change the expiration date after the season ends. I wanted everyone to be able to see how the playoffs unfold.

Jason,

Can you give me an idea when the expiration date will be changed? I tried to renew and I got errors stating that some fields weren't populated (they were) and when I returned to the renewal screen it says that my dues are paid through 3000.

Thanks,

Mike

I'll get with Stan this week to set up our league so that we don't go to orphan state if everyone hasn't paid. I'll let everyone know as soon as Lg 0 is ready for renewal.
