View Full Version : position change
I see that alot of players have been changed to new positions, i was wondering on two: 7748 kawika mitchell listed as ILB but is starting outside for the Giants. The other is 7695 Brandon Moore listed at OLB, but played the last 7 games of 2006 at ILB and is listed at every site including Ourlads at ILB.
Thanks for your time!!

if it were up to me, i'd focus on team changes. players can change positions with some regularity throughout camps especially in new systems with teams that have new coaches. i'd wait on position changes until the normal last-week update in august. (imo)
I agree, but the fact is that certain players were changed to new positions on pure speculation, thus inflating their value in pre-draft trades. I'm just wondering why jump the gun on some (like OLB Crowell in Buffalo now listed at ILB) and not others. I know that any trade a team makes, you will have to assume some risk that a player may switch positions before the year starts..... but by EFS changing the position pre-maturely you give added weight to one side or another.
Thanks for your time.
The following two players are listed as OTs but they're really OGs. Also, Chris Liwienski is a Miami Dolphin - not an Arizona Cardinal. Thanks guys.

Just and FYI to monitor this....
The Giants have moved DE Mathias Kiwanuka to strong-side linebacker.
Coach Tom Coughlin believes Kiwi can be an every-down player. He's likely to add a pass-rushing element to New York's linebacking crew. It leaves Kawika Mitchell and Gerris Wilkinson to vie on the weak side.
An update of player moves and with the rookies added has come from EFS's Stat service, sid will probably upload soon, so allot of player updates will happen at once!
If i'm not mistaken,Henderson has been moved by efs from ilb to olb...is that correct? Everything i've seen has him at ilb

Michael Huff's (PID 8327) postion changed for S to CB, every place I look he is still listed as safety including the Raiders official website which goes so far as to list his position on their roster as specifically as SS (Strong Safety).
Jacob Bell (PID 4964) was a starting guard for the Titans the majority of last season and is listed as a starting OG on any "NFL Depth chart" I look at but he is still listed as an OT.
As a side note, I alos noticed that Elvis Dumervil's position was changed form DE to DT, which I can't really quibble with since he lines-up at both positions. But it raises a question, will EFS ever have the capability of having players who play more than one "NFL Pos", particularly OLine and DLine guys and to a lesser extent, Backers & DB's be eligible at more than one postion to allow the same flexibility and increased value these players have to their teams in the NFL?
Thanks

7726 Terrell Suggs, Ravens DE --> OB
7541 Bryan Thomas, Jets DE --> OB
7654 Bart Scott, Ravens OB--> IB
7744 EJ Henderson, Vikings OB --> IB
7753 Victor Hobson, Jets OB --> IB
8343 Mathias Kiwanuka, Giants DE --> OB
7761 Cory Redding, Lions DE --> DT
6516 Donnie Edwards, Chiefs IB --> OB
7695 Brandon T. Moore, 49ers OB --> IB
7845 Scott Shanle, Saints IB --> OB
6780 Keith Brooking, Falcons OB --> IB
8062 Cullen Jenkins, Packers DT --> DE
7748 Kawika Mitchell, Giants IB --> OB
8533 Anthony Spencer, Cowboys DE --> OB
FYI -
EFS's stat service is ultimately responsible for all player updates, both team and position switches. When EFS disagrees with what position that the Stat service uses, we get them to change it. During the NFL regular season they are very good and fast about team switches and adding players that might appear suddenly from a NFL PS. We freeze player postion changes during the NFL season. During the NFL off-season, they send us an update that adds the rookies, and at that time the stat service has team switches, but not position switches. We have been bugging them about more updates during this time of year, but it has not happened. The position updates that EFS has done during the off-season have been overwritten by their new file with the rooks. We will change them back, but please realize that right now we are trying to keep positions updated to be helpful in team planning. What we really care the most about is that we get all players in their correct position just before the regular season starts. So if you know or believe that a player will be at position X when the season starts instead of position Y, please realize that we do to; and we will work with you to make sure that it is correct when it matters, just before the NFL season starts. I guess what I am trying to say is, if EFS does not have all player positions correct right now, please cut us a little slack, as we will make sure that we are in synch with the NFL and our Stat service come the start of the NFL season.
I wouldnt be too quick to change those players positions....if you check team sites there are discrepancies with Ourlads!
for instance, Miami lists J Taylor as a DE....all this LB talk is just media speculation....
best time to make these changes is week before NFL season starts...things are a lot clearer then...

I dont think changing positions right now is wise since there are going to be many examples of guys changing back to the original position. Is there a link for the paying customers of EFS for the EFS stat service or what position service do they go off of?
Why has Karlos Dansby been moved to ILB? Ourlads still lists him at OLB. Are we using some other service now to update player positions?

Absolutely.
No matter what you see on Ourlads, there is literally a zero percent chance that Jason Taylor is going to be deemed a LB.
He may play from a two-point stance more than he ever has before, but when the games start and the lineups are listed, Jason Taylor is going to be considered a DE by the NFL Gamebooks, the Miami Dolphins and the media at large.
Please move Peek from DE to OB per Browns website.

I have 2:
Jimmy Williams, ATL, switched from CB to S
Antwan Peek, CLE, switched from DE to OLB
Thanks.
2788 Isaiah Stanback Cowboys QB is being listed at WR everywhere that I've seen
8538 LaMarr Woodley Steelers OLB is still being listed at DE as a backup to Bret Keisel as far as I can tell. From what I've read, he will play both. But as a team in transition (D-Formation wise), his future is at DE as near as I can reckon.
8542 Turk McBride Chiefs DT is being listed as a DE. Again, he'll play both, but he's better suited to the outside in a 3-4 and may start there while Jared Allen sobers up.
4931 Arron Sears Buccaneers OT is most likely playing OG for the Bucs
2772 Brian Leonard Rams FB is still being listed at FB but the Rams rarely use one. Since he is most likely the #2 RB & #2 H-B, I was just wondering where he was likely to end up?
I'm in a Standard League so the only ones that matter to me are Woodley and Stanback. But I thought you'd like the input.

Wondering why Arizona's Dockett was changed from DT,to DE. Ourlads still has him listed as a DT. I don't understand how some of these guys get arbitrarily changed while others don't. Is ourlads the official source or not? It seems to be for some players but not for others.
If Dockett is going to be a DE why didn't Bert Berry and Chike Okeafor (both currently DE) get changed to OLB. Doesn't make sense to me.
I understand that Arizona has been rumored to be playing in the 3-4 some at practice, but the policy seems to be wait until closer to the season starts and things are more settled before EFS makes a change. So, if Ourlads still hasn't switched his position what is the justification for EFS doing so?
If this change was a result of a stats update I apologize.
Several days after I posted this Ourlads changed Dockett to DE. So it looks like Berry and Okeafor need to be changed to OLB.
I wouldn't base my information of our Ourlads.com, get a better site for you information.
Especially when they have J.Taylor at OB...That should be a red flag right there!

2788 Isaiah Stanback, WR, Cowboys, EFS has as a QB. Nothing wrong with Ourlads, I have been using them for years and while they are not perfect I find them to be the most current and most accurate I have been able to find.

Sweet Natalie,
One more time, ourlads.com is the official site for efs. On many occasions through out our time running this place, ourlads has been closer than... yes... even the team sites, nothing has changed. If a change is in the works, you will find it there first.
As to the head coach... The tuna says he is not pissed at T.O. either... who do you beleive?
Directly from Sid
First off, I would like to that everyone for taking the time to provide us with your thoughts and concerns regarding this very unusual situation. We were not intentionally ignoring all of your posts. We wanted to approach this decision with as much information as possible. EFS firmly believes in sticking to the rules already in-place. To adjust the rules and/ or scoring principles a week prior to the start of the 2006 season would cause more harm than good. EFS' official depth chart reference is Ourlads.com and as of September 1, 2006, Ourlads still has Koenen listed as the Falcons punter while Tony Yelk is the place kicker. EFS positions will become final for the 2006 season the Thursday after the week 1 games are completed. If he is still listed as the Falcons punter and only a punter at this time, then he will remain at this position for 2006.
If Koenen islisted as botha punter and kicker on or before the EFS positional deadline of September 14, 2006. Then we will make an arbitrary decision as to his official EFS position for 2006. This decision will be made within one day of learning of his dual role for the Falcons. No matter what position or positions he plays at,EFS will award or deduct fantasy points based on all of his on-the-field performances using the scoring systems currently in place.
We also believe that this entire situation might turn out to be a non-issue. The Falcons will most likely bring in a new punter anduse Koenen as their kicker. Even in Thursday nights game Koenen did all of the place kicking and no punting. M. Kesic did all of the punting duty and did pretty well (5 punts - 36.6avg - 1 inside 20 - 48 long).
EFS will continue to monitor this situation but we have every belief that theFalconswill make him just a kicker and a new punter will be signed.
Other News
- A quick reminder that practice squad bidding begins this Monday! So check your rosters or someone else will
- If you entered a starting roster for week one already, please double-check it. We had some minor issues with scoring/line-up formats but they have been resolved.
Thank you,
Keith - EFS

in the "Master List For 2007 Position Changes" thread, you have
Stacy Andrews from OG to OT; I think it should be the other way. From OT to OG.
OK, I'll double-check it over the weekend. I can't get to much from work.

I 'm still not sure,so for the sake of guys who have been mentioned above...Are there No players whose position will be changed until AFTER week 1,or will those shown on Ourlads,or exhibition Gamebooks at other positions going to be changed prior to the week 1 games?
When is the next postion/team update scheduled to happen?
I 2nd this question. in the master list, it shows Devan Hester moving to WR, but that hasn't happened in my league yet. (league 14)
also I was asking about Stacy Andrews - Bengals, is listed as OG on ourlads.com and OT here.
thanks for checking this stuff...much appreciated.
Positions will usually be changed if ourlads and or NFL.com lists them as changed. Before the season starts.
Week 1 is when all final changes are made based on the game books. No changes will take effect after that. So between week 1 and week 2 games is when all postions are final.

I think this needs to be revisited. NFL.com recently replaced last year's depth charts with blank ones, and ourlads is subscription only. We need a reliable, free site to use as the official depth charts during the offseason.
The best we have now I guess is the team sites depth charts, on which the following is listed:
2772 Brian Leonard FB->RB
The Rams list him as a RB, not a FB, and he is listed second there, and he's not on the FB depth chart.

It seems that all of the players have been updated except for Suggs and Bart Scott. Why are these players continually overlooked in the position change updates? Furthermore, how can you change J Johnson from DE to OB and then decide to not change Suggs and Scott.
