I guess since i'm team 1 I'm supposed to set the draft time. It will take a few days to get the rookies entered in the system. I'm up for doing the draft sooner rather than later. Sometime between early-mid march.

We have rid ourselves of the last deadbeat in the league (Dropout team # 10) with a owner who will actually log in and manage the team. (acting as a foster owner in the interim. It will also speed up the rookie draft too

I'm also in League 64. In that league we are starting the draft on May 12. Seems like the perfect day. By my math it looks like 500 pm pacific time. Is that an alright date and time for everybody?

I will be out of the country starting May 24th through June 11th with either very little or no internet access. Obviously, I would vote for starting the draft in mid June. I do not remember how long the draft took last year, but I am sure it took longer than 2 weeks.

Plus, I am not as savy as you guys and it would take me more time than 12 days to properly prepare for the draft...

if we start the draft this Sat May 5th that would give you almost 3 weeks before you leave. If you get thru say 5 or 6 complete rds, just setup a VACATION Flag for the remaining 1 or 2 slots. in fact we can start the draft any day now so you have close to 3 full weeks. If we tried to get all 12 people to agree to one day to start, it might mean waiting a month or 2 to get that exact time frame to work.

Rookied drafts take only 3 weeks at most to complete. If we wait til after June 11th, someone else would have a issue with it, then it would be July

I'm okay with May 5th to start. I agree we should be able to almost finish the draft, or complete it by the 24th. But whatever the league decides is fine with me.

I will be on vacation from 5/26-6/3 with limited internet access. Starting this Saturday would be good. Also can we reduced the time between picks for rounds 4-7. This would speed up the draft.

I see no good reason to start the draft this early. I see plenty of good reasons to delay the draft until at least June.

1. Don't forget we have a orphan team. It seems to me we will have a much more marketable team for someone to purchase if the new owner can participate in the rookie draft.

2. It looks like only 6 of the 12 teams have participated on this thread and there is a proposal to start the draft in 3 days? Considering its May 2nd, I think we should strive for 100% of the teams to agree on the start of the draft.

3. Two teams going on vacation in mid to late May forcing a tight window to complete the draft. Not necessary this early in the season. I do not like the idea of having the computer draft any part of my team (vacation flag).

So unless someone has some extremely good reasons to start the draft in 3 days, I am planning to participate in a June (or later) rookie draft...

While I would like to get the draft done ASAP, I don't think it would be fair to set up the draft this for this Saturday. Right now we have 5 votes for ASAP, and 1 vote for wait till at least mid June. Which means half the league has not voted. And we can't be sure that they even know about the plan for drafting on Saturday.

I see plenty of good reasons to start:

The orpahn team is an EFS admin who has been in the EFS leagues for years and is very responsive and knowledgable and will improve the team to sell later

To get all 12 teams to agree to a date to draft is time consuming and often a few do not even respond or care.

The vacation flag is of great help and valuable to minimize long delays often at the expense of others, sometimes upwards of 12-24 hrs, thus forcing others to check and recheck and re-check numerous times to see if a pick was made. A draft that is often done in 2-3 wks takes 5-6. The smart experienced leagues use it often and most everyone benefits.

With vacation flag, no one person holds up the others as was the case with the Dropouts team in previous drafts. Dropouts finally fullfilled his team name, who is now a orphan. In fact, of the orginal 12 teams in 2005, 8 became orphans and some of those eight changed hands twice already.

Any bets on how long it will take to get the other 6 teams to respond with a definite time? Id say as long as it took the Clev Browns to acquire a good QB. And June is often a vacation month for some, graduation for others, thus leading up to the July 4th holidays and more reasons to be away.

I agree with Deacon. I think we should start. We will never get everyone to agree to a date and we have no idea how long it will take for someone to buy the team. The first couple of rounds usually go by pretty fast and the draft tends to drag in the later rounds probably because the interest level in those players drops off. Also there is no reason to wait for June 1 cuts because anyone cut probably was not worth keeping anyways. If we do a 12 hour clock in the last half of the draft that will take care of some of those issues and keep things flowing. I would prefer to get the draft going but if everyone wants to do it later I will live.

Its just as well Fall Guys moves on as he didnt get his way so he will take his ball and go home. Who needs members like him. Lets call our lg "Cleaning House", a classic name and one that will be better off for it. Like i said in a forum message the other day, almost all of the oringinal members moved on and none of them were missed. This orpahn is number 9. Lets get Keith from EFs to fill this opening quickly or Keith can evem draft for this team as well. Were starting this weekend as we cant let people like Fall Guys ruin it for others

I agree with the name change or maybe "Cry babies go home". We all have schedules, but just do the best you can checking the system and we can get done with rookie draft in 2-3 weeks. I was in a league that got a vet draft done in that time frame. Let's get this thing started.
