Have a question or just want to talk football with the league. Here's the place. Also feel free to use this topic for good old fashioned trash talk. I am the moderator of the forums now for our league, and would like us to stay in the provided topics. Let me know if I completely missed a good topic not covered by the others. If not, I will review posts and delete when outdated or no longer necessary. If I deleted anything vital in the initial purge, but I don't think we had anything big. Take care guys, and hope to see more posts as we get closer to the season.

Well - this should be interesting....!
Who will win their divisions next year??
Response: Just2Buff, BroncoFan, Baydawgs (Cerebrals move to 2nd).
Who's had the best offseason so far??
Response: This is tough to say - alot of activity has been generated. I personally like the BroncoFan's approach this off season - made minor/no changes. He has an extremely well roundedteam set for next year with a ton of depth. Thank goodnesshe isn't in my division! :)
Who would you pick to win the championship next year??
It's a toss up between BroncoFan and Just2Buff. I am leaning towards BroncoFan just because of the likely TO reemergence. Baydawgs will not repeat - his players are on a steep decline as they fall out of their prime years and move on to retirement. Clearly an example of a team that hasn't planned for the future (with the exception of Larry Johnson).
Biggest surprise of the offseason??
It may be surprising to most so I will go with it - The Cerebral's move to take over the top 3 picks! Their is a method to this approach - with alot of risk involved. More to be revealed below.
Worst move of the offseason??
Depending on how you look at it - Freeney and McNabb could be a great pick or a bad one. I personally am not a fan of this trade. McNabb's performance is sure to decline with the lack of offense in Philly and the wear-and-tear he has experienced over the past 2 years. Freeney is a great DE, buthas now shown he is a presence and teams (as they did at the end of the season) will plan for him - in the form of double teams. He doesn't have the size or speed to out run or overcome2 blockers - sorry -not matter how fast he is. To me - this is a greatexample of trading players at their peaks.
Smartest move of the offseason??
I like CSWS move to pick up Brady and Peppers. I know that my team made this trade, but I think it was for the best of both teams. CSWS needed some stability and that is just what he got with this trade. Good trade for both teams.
Worst team name??;)
This is a tough one - we have some very creative owners in our league and I like IT! It would have to be Baydawgs for me - just because they won it last year!
So why did the Cerebrals make such a big effort to secure the top 3 picks this year????
Response: I will give you a small hint - look at the top prospects for the 2007 rookie draft. You will notice that the top prospects consist of mainly DT. OL, 1 QB, and very few RBs. The QB is Brady Quinn - which I personally think doesn't compare to Lienhart, Young, or Cutler. The 2006draft is full of unbelievable talent (reminds of Vick/Tomlinson draft) with Bush, Lienhart, Young, Mario Williams, D. Williams, Lendalw White and AJ Hawk.I can't remember a time where the top 8 had some much talent.
In addition, I am looking to assemble a team full of young/rare talent for the next few years.See - Demarcus Ware, Shawne Merriman, C. Williams and soon to be added - Reggie Bush and Mario Williams and either Lienhart/Young. These players are sure to take time to develop and a few might be a bust - but it was worth the risk.....in my humble opinion at least.
Can we say RISKY strategy....hope it pans out.
PS - why doesn't the message board send out an email when a topic is posted anymore????

I really like the way The Program named the divisions. I’ll copy that format here.
From the North BayDawgs has to be the favorite. He proved that building your team around the offensive line can be the key to a championship. And as much as I hate to admit it, larry johnson will be a force next year, although 2500 yds is out of the question J. But don’t count out Eternal Ramnation, Bulger is a good QB and those two rookie backs will only get better from last year.
I agree with The Program that the Central Division is our league’s toughest. And after adding Palmer, McGahee and Steve Smith this offseason he has the inside track to win this division. I still plan on my team making the playoffs, but Timid Moose will give me a good run for 2nd place in this division.
In the South you can’t sleep on Dark Dragons because Culpepper can be the highest scoring player in the league, but Just2Buff will probably still win the division. I would have still bid on Hasselbeck had he been franchised, because with or without Alexander next year he’ll still be a top 5 QB next year.
My prediction for the championship game is The Program vs. Just2Buff, with the Program emerging as the winner. (I have something against repeat champions)
The award for best offseason goes to Can’t Stop Won’t Stop. Bringing in Brady, Fitzgerald, Pace and Umenyiora will really help this team next year, although it probably won’t be enough grab a division title quite yet.
The biggest surprise of the offseason for me was Mighty Meerkats trading Carson Palmer for James and Fletcher. Palmer is a top QB that was the highest scorer in the league this year. He should be a great QB for years to come. James and Fletcher are toward the end of their respective careers. It wasn’t a bad move by any means, Palmers knee injury leaves some questions and the two players he got in return are great talents, I just wouldn’t have personally made the trade.
The worst move of the offseason in my biased opinion is the bidding war over priest holmes. I know he’s can be a great talent, but almost 2 million and an active roster spot is too much considering he probably won’t play much next year. P.S. I’m very biased on this point as well.
The smartest move of the offseason has to be trading McNair for Pace. McNair doesn’t have many years left and may not even finish the season as the starter if the Titans 2nd round pick is a QB that comes along quickly. Pace has at least a few good years left on a consistently good offense.
The worst team name goes to Swollen Members II. When I first started I showed one of my friends my league and she immediately asked me what kind league I’m in when she saw SMII’s name.
Good luck to the rest of the league and here’s to much more activity before the season starts!

Baydawgs - you should just set your draft on autopilot. It will be probably return better results that way - see last year's draft picks.:P
Oh wait - you don't have any 1st rounddraft picks and half your team just got their first installment of their pension plan. Way to help out the situation by taking on DonovanMcNabb.
Any interest in Favre - I am sure someone is willing to trade him to you.....for your remaining young player - Larry "How in the world did I end up on this team" Johnson.
That said - their is hope. I am sure your Brownies will not disappoint this weekend. They are sure to have all the best college centers perfectly scouted to make the right pick. Who else is going to protect your star QB - Frye? Oh wait a second - does someone have him already.....off to the free agency board!
Let the smack taking begin!!! :D

Hardy,
Yet again you don't get it, the veteran and rookie drafts last yearreturned a CHAMPIONSHIP for me! Thanks for playing.
My players average 5 years in the league and 27 years of age right now. These numbers will go down to the league average of 4 years and 26 years old after I use my 9 draft picks on studs.
By the way, you better get studying the draft because this year is do or die for you judging by your 2007 picks (5 picks none in the first 2 rounds). Also, with 25% of your 2006 cap going to your 2006 draft picks they better be good. How are you going to sign your13 draft picks this yearwith 5 activeslots available? I predict two more Wins for the Dawgs against your team this year.

Guys, I was goner for a few days on business, and apparently EFS has removed the draft results before I could add the last 2 rounds to our draft results. If anyone has this info, please feel free to add it to the posts.
I also reviewed the teams and the draft, and have come up with this fairly useless commentary:
North Division:
Raleigh Cerebrals: A great draft, but he earned evceryone of those picks. I thought he overpaid for #1, but did a good job with who he picked, and I like d the trade out of the #6 spot. It's one thing to acquire a bunch of early picks, it's another to make the right choices...and I think he did that.Along with the 3 studs at the top, M Huff, J Allen, and Si Moss should make impacts very early helping need areas for RC. His picks late in the draft were fairly inconsequential, though all could be starters for their NFL teams at some point. Overall grade: A Plus
Eternal Ramnation: Not much to report. Jerome Harrison could be a good RB if given the opportunity, but there are a lot of guys in front of him. However, if given the opportunity, I think he could succeed at this level. I tend to think guys lacking a few of the raw tools but having excellent vision and running style are very solid. Decent pick for where he was selected, but scores low because of lack of picks. Overall Grade: F
Bay Dawgs: Will went heavy on defense early, and he could see some return very soon. I think D Jackson will work his way into the starting line up fpr the Browns very soon, with Wimbley probably a year behind. However, if McGinnest gets dinged up at all (which has been known to happen), Wimbley may not come back off the field. Thomas Howard has speed to burn and will start in Oakland, but something about the Raiders just breeds mediocrity. We'll see. At the very least, he'll have lots of opportunities to make plays because his legs will get him anywhere on the field quickly. Ji Williams is a boom or bust type pick, but I like him, and Brian Calhoun could be great--only problem is the log jam at RB in Detroit. However, if Kev Jones and A Pinner bank knees together in practice and Calhoun gets a chance, I htink he could be very good.Ad in a couple OL late, Greg Jennings who will certainly have a chance to make an impact in Green Bay, and sleeper Chris Gocong, and you've got a very solid draft. Overall grade: B
Creeping Death: CD became very active in trades just before the draft, and put his freshly acquired 1st round picks to good use with L Maroney and AJ Hawk. The hearts of owners picking 7-12 shattered as those 2 guys left the board. Maroney will be a force in NE (though it may be another season), and Hawk should be a huge part of a Green Bay defense that I wouldn't be suprised to see be in the top third of NFL defenses this year. Jay Cutler was a steal in the 2nd, and I think he will be starting within a year as well. Anthony Smith could competer for a startin job in Pitt, and hell, anyone has a shot at WR in Philly, so I like Avant where he was drafted.D Lutui could be a starter for an overhauled and presumably much improved Cards offense, and Pat Watkins is a potential play maker. Overall grade: A Minus
Central Division:
Timid Moose: I lost out on Maroney, Hawk, and Ernie Sims, but was still able to fill need areas at RB, LB, and DB. I think Addai has the potential to start for the Colts, which makes him invaluable. Bobby Carpenter should be a starter from day one, and Whitner could be a huge playmaker for the Bills. Kiwanuka could be effective in New York, and may replace Strahan in the line up in the near future. Norwood gives me the heir apparent to W Dunn, L Pope should make an impact very soon in Arizona, and Brodie Croyle should be one of the 1st QBs of this draft class to get a shot at playing after T Green hangs it up. Br Williams, much like Avant, has gone to a team with very little WR depth, and thus I took a flyer on him, A Whitworth is a future starter for the Bengals (and insurance for W Anderson), and Elvis Dumervil should compete as a rush specialist for the Broncos. Overall Grade: A minus
Mighty Meerekats: Only one pick in the 6th and one in the 7th. D Hester is a decent slection, and if he can win a nickelback spot paired with KR/PR responsabilities, he could be a sleeper to score 12-14 points a game. Jeremy Bloom was a "fashionable" choice in the 7th, but I thought there were more practical guys still on the board. Overall Grade: D
Miami Style: I think E Sims will be a stud in the Marinelli system, and think this is a great pick. Miami didn't have many selections or many holes to fill, so I though moving up to get a legit impact player was a great move. Derek Hagan strikes me as a super sleeper in this draft that nobody gave any credit to. Hagan runs a 4.55, which is not blazing, but it's okay. And I think his game speed is better than he gets credit for. I certainly think hin capable of unseating M Booker for the #2 job at some point this year or next, but only time will tell. T Scheffler was a value pick in round 6, and he has a very good chance of starting for Denver. He's not going to be a stud even if he wins the job, but Jeb Putzier isn't great either, but could contribute for EFS owners as a spot starter when needed. Not many picks, but used very well. Overall grade: C
Bronco Fan: I was shocked when Joey traded the #8 pick to Miami, removing him from any chance of landing Jay Cutler. Manny Lawson was terribly under rated a month before the draft, and maybe a little over rated when it finally happened. However, the 49ers will let him play immediately, and I think he is a potential stud. But will he be listed as a LB or DE. Demeco Ryans goes to a Houston team who needs help like a fish needs water (I know), and should start very early in his career. Maurice Drew was one of my favorite players in this draft, and again, considering running style over sheer tools and sixze, I htink this guy could be very good if/when given an opportunity. Considering the Jax RB situation, he's in a good spot. Youbuty and Griffin could be role players, but probably won't make any big impact soon for Bronco. Overall grade: B Minus
South Division:
CSWS: I thought Chad Jackson and D Bullocks were awesome value picks. Bullocks is already listed as the starter, and Jackson is certainly capableofmaking an impact in NE very soon. Klopfenstein should start in StLouis, and I like Stovall in Tampa Bay. McIntosh could be a force at OLB, but will probably serve on special teams for the first season. T Jackson is an over rated sleeper (if there is such a thing), but I like the late value of guys like P HJaralson, C Lowry, R Edwards, and M Jean-Gilles. Not a lot of studs in this draft, but severalfuture solid players. ANd Bullocks could turn out to be great.Overall grade: B Minus
Dark Dragons: I think Lendale White could boom or bust. On one hand he put up proliphic stats at USC. ON the other, the guy developed man boobs in the off season and was out lifted by just about every player in the draft!!! I think he will get an opportunity, and I think he will succeed. B Pollard will sit for a year or two behid Knight, but is very good.D MAnning could be a sleeper, and I wouldn't be shocked tosee him start this year. NOt very many picks, but a few good prospects. Overall Grade: C Minus
Swollen Members: The enigma of the draft...Vince Young. Somuch talent,so many questions. Overall, I thought this was a lackluster draft board. Ngata may be a solid pro, but won't log a ton of EFS points, K Clemens has some good upside, but I think he showed a lot of vulnerability against so-so Pac 10 defenses.I actually think D Tapp may be the best prospect on this boar (after Young), and could prove to bein the mix in Seattle very soon. Fasano is talented but the 2nd TE on the roster. Tye Hill and Mangold will start very soon, but the Jets are a question mark (for now) and CBs are not to be counted on for scoring on a consistent basis. Overall Grade: C Plus
Just2Buff: Very solid draft for Buff.If Bush has all the physical tools, Williams has all the intanngibles you look for in a RB.Lookfor him to unseat Foster in Carolina very soon, either by out playing him immediately, or after taking advantage of an injury. Vernon Daviswill have to beat out incumbent and under rated Eric Johnson, but I have little doubt that the 49ers will get the #6 overall player in the mix early and often. And if Alex Smithis remotely worth his salt, he better use Vernon Davis over and over. I like the additions of Greenway and Hodge from Iowa. Hodge cannot beat out N Barnett, but I think the Pack would be better served to move Barnett to the WLB and start Hodge in the middle. Why not have Hawk, Barnett, and Hodge on the field together? Greenway should start immediately, and should be a solid but not flashy player for many years. McNeil will start soon for the Chargers, but will Rivers keep them as a top offense? Bunkley is a stud DT, but he is a DT. Alston and Ko Simpson weregood values and could be straters in the NFL. If given that opportunity, I like both of theirpotentials. Overall Grade: B Plus
Hope it was enjoyable and legible. Take care guys.
Moose
Timid - Wow! Great write up - I love the detail and analysis. Analysis like that make this league great to be a part of!!!!!
Creeping - I may have said this earlier, but great pick with Cutler. I have no doubt that he will be a super star in the NFL - especially learning under the most well-respected offensive coordinators in the league. Anyone have a guess on how long it will take before BroncoFan makes an offer for Cutler??? :D
