Will there be any new roster and practice squad maximum limitations that prevent non playoff teams from loading up their roster to rediculous levels? Some of these owners abuse this loophole in the system the last week of UFA bidding and end the season with so many extra players it's like they held their own rookie draft. Some owner's roster and PS have an extra 10 or so players which should not be allowed.

Hopefully something will be done to fix this loophole and keep owners from abusing this aspect of EFS which happens every year. A maximum roster and PS limit should be instituted to prevent owners from loading up. Playoff teams should not be penalized because they are competitive. Every owner should have to play by the same rules regardless of how their season is going. A maximum roster limitation is the only way to prevent owners from cheating the system...

Thanks,

I agree with what you are saying to a degree. Yes, the teams that do that late in the year have a huge roster and are well over the roster limits. But I'm not seeing a big advantage in having a bunch of roster fodder, most of which will turn into baggage headed into the new year. It's like if you throw enough crap up against the wall, maybe some of it will stick. Maybe. Most won't and you'll have to eat it eventually.

Once the new season rolls over and the "rest of us" have that same opportunity (whether we use it or not) when the new season starts, those that loaded up at season's end will have to drop several of those players in order to bid in the current year. My opinion, I think they have somewhat handicapped themselves early in the year. They might cover some with RFA vacancies, but that doesn't apply to PS and if they aren't a rookie, all PS still count toward those limits. And they will incur penalties.

Thanks for your opinion Dwight...

I don't believe that any owner should have the option to hold the rights to players during the off-season if that owner is above the roster limitations. Why should non-playoff owners be allowed to carry so many extra players into the off-season? If our roster limits at 53/8 then that should be our limit. No owner should be allowed to "load" up on players at any point of the year. The quality or lack or quality talent of those players is totally irrelevant. I don't believe any NFL team is allowed to carry an extra 5-10 more players on their practice squad into their off-season. If that happened I am sure that other teams would view this as an unfair advantage. This is no different. We all basically pay EFS to ensure that we all play by the same rules and this is an obvious loophole that should be closed. EFS has been great through the years at looking into these "holes" in their operating system and fixing them so that we are all playing on a level playing field.

If we are going to have roster limits at all those limits should be upheld year round since these are year round leagues. Every year owners abuse this loophole and hopefully this will be addressed...

Not that we've made any formal decision but in the NFL, after the regular season has ended and once a team is eliminated from the playoffs, they can begin signing players to futures contracts. This means that they are signing free agents to contracts before the new league year begins. Most of these players don't end up on the final roster but are more the flyer type players mentioned in the previous post.

Warlord,

You make it to the playoffs for a reason. ;)

Just think of it as they are desperately trying in vain to catch up with you...:D

I do see your point though.

Since this vaguely touches on roster bids:-) I would like to know if any discussion has been made about extending the bid stop date for existing bid wars?

Players not bid on by the bid stop date can no longer be bid on of course. But exisiting bids can still be contested until one owner wins the bid outright and not because he bid 3sec before bid stop.
