just for fun .... I thought I'd list a few things I've learned in my first year playing EFS. Some thoughts work for all, some for none, just killing some time ....

Unlike anywhere else (in any fantasy league), trading a #1 pick for a #2 isn't always as whacked as it sounds.

A top-notch TE will give you more of an advantage than any other other position.

CBs are like prostitutes. If you can't have one of the best, don't overpay for an average one.

If you don't have great LBs, start 5-6 DBs.

It's OK to spend a lot of money on certain players. Having 20 .350 players is nice, but they aren't what will bring home the bacon.

Always confer with MMs before making any deal ;)

Think twice before dealing with RFLers. :)

Our league seems to like Budweiser (I enjoy Michelob Ultra myself).

A good FB will outscore an average WR.

Kickers who miss FGs suck ass.

You gotta love a league where you're actually cheering for a 38 year old punter on a 5-11 team.

Some things I've learned:

1) every year some rook UFA CB's come out of nowhere

2) every year Shep and I make some boneheaded RFA moves and end up paying big bucks for bench riders

3) every year we have high hopes for some player that ends up retiring, changing positions, or just plain sucking (see Shannon Sharpe, Godfrey, Zereroue, and Jamie Sharper)

4) every year some offense explodes out of nowhere (see SD in '04 and Cincy in'05)

5) get your backup kickers and punters several weeks before you need them or some ahole will keep raising your UFA bids just to see you get a big donut

6) in every vet draft several owners won't be able to resist grabbing the high scoring kickers somewhere around the 6th round, just to see them come back down to earth the next year

anyhow, that's all I have for now. I'm sure there's more to come . . .

This would never everhappenwith any owner ...[cough] Gordon...in this league. At least not at the kicking positions [cough] QB.... especially if that week [cough] week 4... you are playing against that team ... [cough cough cough] Charlotte49ers.:D

;):P:D.......sometimes the best offense.....is a good defense.

Other things I've learned:

1) several times a year I'll see some wild posts from sid at around 1 or 2 am but they'll magically dissappear by the next morning. I quickly learned to cut and paste them for later use :P

OK, I am now sending you a bug, to stop cut and past:shock:

2) you can always rely on Just Plain Nasty to stir up the pot in a league that he doesn't even belong to. Every wonder why we don't see any more posts in 1310???

3) every year some doofus won't make his rook draft picks in a timely manner and he'll piss off all the other owners. That brings out the annual request to change the time limit, ban the owner, or force a live draft.

4) when you see some Jackass bid ridiculous amounts on UFA and RFA players you can pretty much expect him to orphan his team the following year

It's entering that territory, although i know you won't orphan the team especially since the league is free. I am in one league that had some guys go bananas last year in RFA and low and behold they are no longer in the league because they've entered cap hell and have no way out.

Hey,lets face it...sometimes we all just get nuts about someone we want.I wonder how many times i've said "crap I hope someone outbids me for this skunk,I really don't want him".Than we all,or at least most of us get convinced that there are certain guys out there just letting us do the heavy lifting before they swoop in like vultures.Any time I get into one of those mindsets I just remember Tom Hagen's line in "The Godfather"..."its not personal...its strictly business"...ahhhh,if we could only have 80 man rosters! No,on second thought, not such a good idea, another 20 or so guys to obsess over.
