The Rams offense was weak in 2009 despite good production in the running game from Stephen Jackson, so a lot of the focus this year should be on the passing game. Bradford is likely to be the first pick for the Rams, and a reciever like Golden Tate would be a good complement for a rookie quarterback should Bradford start for the Rams. Tate is not a huge receiver at 5'11 195, but scouting reports have him as a tough player that will likely fit well in a system that incorporates screens. He is said to be one of the more talented wide recievers in the draft, but as a convered running back he may experience growing pains in the NFL.

Tampa Bay is gradually reworking their aging/aged defense. At this point, they've taken a top DT, so the next step will be to add either a DE or CB (to replace the geriatric Ronde Barber in the next year or so), or possibly to look at a major offensive weakness, WR.

And, at this point on my board, that means DE Carlos Dunlap, DE/OB Jerry Hughes, CB Devin McCourty, or possibly DE Ricky Sapp. No WR is available in the right value range, so TB will have to wait until the 3rd to pick one up.

Of the above choices, the most likely would be Dunlap. He's a 4-3 DE with size, a Florida homeboy, and the top ranked DE on the board despite some character concerns. At 6'6" and 290 lbs, he will team with McCoy to make a big, youthful DL and take some pressure off the questionable TB defensive backs. Dunlap is a boom or bust candidate - much like fellow U of F DE Gaines Adams, who busted out in Tampa before being traded to Chicago, then tragically died. He has plenty of upside, though, if he gets and keeps his head straight.

We can hear the fans moaning about this pick already. They wanted a QB. Truth is that we have one and although he's not "our guy" the coaching staff will have to make due for now.

The offensive line in Washington stinks and until we improve it, any QB will have a rough go of it.

Asamoah is a 6'5" 315 Lb mauler who can knock defenders back. Adding him to our first round pick of Russell Okung makes us better right away!

In 2007, he paved the way for Rashard Medenhall to become the Offenisve Player of the Year in the Big 10. And, in 2008, he helped the Illini average 448 yards a game. In 2009, despite little talent, the Illini ranked 18th in the nation in rushing. Asamoah has been a big part of their success the past 3 years. We are looking forward to having him.

Other considerations - Colt McCoy, QB and Donald Butler, ILB

With our team needing help at a vast aray of positions, we could have gone any number of routes with this pick, we have opted for OLB.

We believe Washington to be the best player on the Horned Frogs defense, with a greater upside and more NFL potential than Jerry Hughes. So, Washington becomes the pick.

6'3" and 230 Lbs, Washington will need to add another 15 pounds to become a special player. His 4.58 - 40 speed already make him a terrific weapon on defense. Washington led the Horned Frogs with 109 tackles in 2009.

He had 11 tackles-for-a-loss, 2 sacks and 3 interceptions. He is a "big play" waiting to happen and a steal in Round 2.

He has the speed and the instincts to go sideline to sideline and although he will replace the recently traded OLB, Kamerion Wimbley, we see him as having the potential to move inside when he adds some bulk.

Other considerations - Colt McCoy and Tony Pike, QBs; Kareem Jackson, CB and Demaryius Thomas, WR.

Oakland pulls the trigger on Penn State Dlineman Jared Odrick. Odrick has positional versatility and will have the luxury of learning behind Richard Seymour. Oakland goes with 'best available' on their board, but also fills a need after losing Greg Ellis and Gerard Warren during the offseason which shortened their depth along the Dline.

Other considerations - Brian Price Dt UCLA

Buffalo needs help on the OL especially at T after the retirement of Brad Butler. After taking a chance on QB in the 1st round, the Bills have to play it safe and go with the most flexible lineman left on the board.

McCourty is tall, well-built, and a very physical player. He has good balance and footwork as a defender and is comfortable in both press and off-man coverage. He projects as a near-term starter and solid special teams player.

In Tampa, Ronde Barber has been a fixture at CB for a number of years, but it is clear that he's slowing down. He perhaps has another year left, maybe two, if he can move to more of a spot-duty player. As part of the reworking of the overall TB defense, finding a replacement for Barber has to be a priority, and here McCourty falls in their lap.

Other possibilities include Demaryius Thomas WR Georgia Tech, Damian Willaims WR USC, and Ricky Sapp DE Clemson.

Miami has a big need at the WR position and the answer falls into their lap in the 2nd rd. Thomas is the big play threat Miami needs to go with Qb Chad Henne's strong arm. Thomas has the size and speed necessary to be a great reciever. He also has a reputation as a sloppy route runner and maybe a little undisciplined. A disciplined coach like Sparano and an ego like Parcells makes them think they can make him great.

With this pick from jacksonville, NE will pick:

Ricky Sapp, OLB Clemson

NE needs an OLB, and Sapp has the size and speed to be an immediate impact player. His pass rush skills will help him be a force in the AFC East division.

Other options, Thaddeus Gibson, OLB, Ohio State
Brian Price NT UCLA

With the uncertain Brandon Marshall, I look for Denver to reach and draft a wr at this pick. Based on who is left, I think they will settle on Damian Williams, USC, WR. Rarely drops a ball, not afraid to go over the middle, I think he will contribute right away, and maybe by year 2 be a full time starter. He catches the ball well, and is explosive after the catch.

Damian Williams, WR USC

With the 2.14 the New York Giants select LB/DE Jerry Hughes of TCU. With the aging Donovan McNabb now in Washington behind a suspect offensive line and with novice Kevin Kolb starting in Philadelphia the Giants will pair Hughes with their previous pick of Graham to terrorize opposing quarterbacks. Hughes like Graham has the closing speed to play OLB and DE.

San Francisco had a good, but inconsistent defence last season. When the team played well both the defence, and special teams were productive in creating turnovers, and points. Wootton is a 6’7 defensive end that had three interceptions, and blocked three kicks in college. His size makes him more of an asset on the special teams, but he may also be a nice addition at the end, or even in schemes with four linemen as he did in college. He is coming off a knee injury, and many other drafts have Wootton being picked lower, but I think his size, and versatility make him a sleeper that could make the 49er defence more potent in terms of points, and turnovers.

With Wooten stolen with the previous pick, and needing to fill in their required rush linebacker to improve on their 3-4 Defense, the Chiefs select the an early sleeper that plays with passion and tenacity on every down. Having to play both inside and outside linebacker positions since 2007, his experience is not matched and often understimated as he has not received the exposure as his fellow teammates (Coly McCoy and Sergie Kindle). Known as a tackle hungry playing maniac, what he lacks is the above average coverage skills as well as an average ability to stret off of blockers during plays, both which will definitely improve. He closes in on ball carriers very quickly with his keen sense of play recognition. One of his strengths is destroying screen passes and above average in his lateral agility and sound tackling skills. Over 100 tackles as well as being named to the Big 12 All-Conference Team the past 2 seasons. Another plus is he has no character issues. Most valuable at weak side linebacker.

Kansas City Chiefs select LB Roddrick Muckelroy...

2.19 Houston Texans S Major Wright Fla

The Texans need a FS type who can cover and make plays in the back end of the secondary, and Wright fits that bill. He has good size, speed and quickness. Demonstrated ball skills at Fla by intercepting 8 passes in 3 years as a starter. Reportedly has some coverage issues so hopefully those could be masked in the Texans Defense.

Others: S Chad Jones LSU- he is more of a SS type.

The Patriots will take a long hard look at Tim Tebow. They have had great luck in the past drafts, but Tebow may prove too much to resist. Even though they just signed Lewis at NT, I think that they will pass on a QB and draft Brian Price, NT UCLA. With Wilfork getting up there, Price will add an option at NT with a huge motor.

Most prognosticators have Cincinnati taking a WR with one, if not both, of their first two picks. They were active in FA at the position, so have a number of contenders for the spot, so I don't feel it’s the need everyone seems to. LSU's Brandon LaFell is certainly a possibility, and would represent good value here, as he is the last of a group of very similarly graded WRs who went ahead of him this round.

TE is also a big need (they'll snap Gronkowski up in a second if he falls here) and USC's Anthony McCoy would also be good value, so he's a possibility.

However, the feeling here is that needs on either line will take precedence. Utah's Zane Beedles, Indiana's Roger Saffold are OL possibilities, but the Bengals opt for DL depth, and the tremendous depth at DT In this draft sees a first rounder in most years pushed to them at the 53rd pick.

DT Lamar Houston, Texas

2.23 Philadelphia Eagles LB Sean Lee Penn St
SEAN LEE, ILB, PENN STATE this gives the Eagles the option of playing Sean at ILB if Shawn Bradley isn't healthy and possibly even moving Bradley back to Weak-side to make up for any lost speed from his knee injury. This is not the Eagles typical draft strategy as they severely undervalue Linebackers, however, the unit needs an upgrade and a great deal of NFL quality depth.

Misi is a strong, athletic OLB with very good pass rush skills and he plays the run reasonably well. Only question is whether or not he can cover TE's in the NFL

With Dansby leaving, they need some new LBs. Spikes has the intangibles to be a 1st rnd pick and would fit in very well in the 3-4.

Other Option: Aaron Hernandez (http://www.draftcountdown.com/ScoutingReports/TE/Aaron-Hernandez.php) TE.

Dallas just released Ken Hamlin, who never quite panned out as a FS for the Boyz. They have nothing particularly impressive in the wings: Alan Ball is the heir-apparent, but he is only serviceable.

Three Safeties are available at this stage of the draft. Morgan Burnett of GA Tech and LSU's Chad Jones are both excellent prospects, but both project to the SS position, where DAL has the quite serviceable Gerald Sensabaugh. DAL needs a center fielder, not necessarily another big hitter, so they will opt for Cook - a college CB who projects to the FS position in the pros.

Cook is is 6'2", 210 lbs, and has CB speed. He tackles well, but isn't a big hitter. He has some CB skills, but probably would not succeed at the pro level at that position. Good performances at the Senior Bowl and the Combine have bumped his stock from low third round, to low second round, where the Boyz find him available. Cook's CB background also give DAL some injury flexibility there.

Also, out there in the real world, Dallas is said to be interested in Cook and have invited him in for a visit.

Other possibilities would be Burnett and Chad Jones (Dallas needs Safety help!), OG Jon Asamoah, OT Roger Saffold, WR Brandon Lafell, or DT Cam Thomas

Jared Veldheer OL Hillsdale

We need another hog, with lineman basically flying off the boards the Vikes seized their moment to strike, at possibly the last lineman with the most upside. Jared's combine numbers were among the elite. True he comes from a small school, but they couldn't pass on a possible diamond in the rough. Plus Favre's last conference championship game won't let them forget it. In a perfect world we see a competition between him and Loadholt for the tackle spot with the least athletic moving inside to guard, as we see the positions interchangeable. Either player would probably be an upgrade to Herrera, Hicks, or Cook.

Possibilities: Ben Tate RB, John Jerry OL

Common theme is that Gibson is/was still somewhat of a 'project' as a rush OLB in the 3-4, but the Colts have done pretty well with two undersized DEs the past few seasons. Freeney and Mathis still have plenty of quality ball left, but adding a 3rd rush end never hurts. Gibson transitioned from LB to DE his junior year for the Buckeyes and the Colts will keep him at the position. With the Jets adding Santonio Holmes, the Ravens adding Anquan Boldin, and the Chargers looking to rely heavily on the arm of Philip Rivers, the Colts 'need' on the defensive side of the ball is to stop the pass. You either do that with good DBs or with players that can get to the opposing QB.

Other options -- Ghee CB - Wake Forest.

Jason Worilds OLB VT

The best of both worilds fell to the Saints with this pick. With the champs needing help at the outside LB position, what a year to fill the need. Not only is the position deep in the draft, they got the perfect 4/3 guy. Jason has the sideline to sideline speed they need to fill this position. To add icing on the cake he played some DE, so now they can get even more creative on passing downs. All I can say is get to work on the repeat Mr. Williams, get to work.

2.29 New York Jets DE Austen Lane Murrary St

Lane has the size to be an impressive pass rusher but he won't be an every down player based on his speed. He could start right away as a situational pass rusher and could become a "tweener" moving between DE and OLB.

The Rams need help at almost all defensive positions this year, becuase their tackling is about as impressive as the yearly Rich Eisen 40 in a suit. Actually that's not fair to Rich. The point is that a linebacker might be a good choice, but the Rams need to improve the tackling in the secondary especially when meeting up with the likes of Gore and Wells twice a year each. Franks is the biggest corners in the draft, but still put up a decent 40 time, which is complemented by his big hit ability, and resonable open field skills. The chances of the Rams making a big splash in the standings this year are remote, so I think a work in progress like Franks could be a good pick, even if he does not start the entire season.

P.S. what are the Browns expecting to trade to the Rams for the first overall pick, they have already traded most of thier starters.
