San Fran just drafted QB last year so they probably won't pull a SD, could use some playmakers on offense, have a forever-hobbled TE, could use a RB upgrade, lost a few LBs this offseason, are in flux at WR (probably won't go there), have injuries and question marks at DB ... Damn, where WON'T these guys go? (probably qb & wr, but who knows?) Tell me who you think they will pick.

being a draft deep in LB & DB, i think they'll take the value pick -- vernon davis

The 49ers are in desperate need of help in a lot of areas and adding Vernon Davis to a Norv Turner offense could be lethal. However, Mike Nolan is a defensive coach and he needs to be able to do two things, run the ball and stop the run. He drafted Frank Gore last year and signed Larry Allen this offseason to help with the power running game. Now he needs to stop the run. He has an undersized NT in Anthony Adams and needs more bulk at the point of attack to allow Derek Smith and Jeff Ulbrich more free shots at the RB. That is why I chose Haloti Ngata DT Oregon as their selection. He could immediately anchor the middle and allow Adams to come in as a wave rusher on passing downs. I think with the depth at TE in this year's draft the 49ers will look at the position in round 3 since they pick near the top of every round.

there are a few tes, so they can wait on that and lb. but vernon's definitely the cream and they can always find some DT to plug a hole for a year... tough decision for SF.

and tough decision for EFS too -- there've been 4 votes, all for different players.

For SF, it's gotta be defense. A team need is LB, but it's too early to take the #2 LB. That leaves the D-Line and the secondary... DE? Nope. DT? Ehhh, too high for Ngata.CB?A little high for Mr. Williams from VaTech, but if this pick is not traded(which it SHOULD be) it'll be Williams. SF's corners were brutal last year... and blame can be put on the pass rush, but anyway.

I'm not sold with an RB here at #6. Nor is a TE cool at #6 (I'm sick of TEs... Jet fan here!!) even if Davis is an awesome specimen.

I went with Huff because he's the best CB/S prospect inthis draft

if this tie isn't broken by the 24-hour mark, i think i'll change my vote so we can move on. (i have one of the 3-way tie votes.)

Can you start a EFS MOCK DRAFT after this poll is done?

Thanks, Gary

with my change of vote, the san francisco 49ers take Haloti Ngata, DT, Oregon with the #6 pick.
