Who will Oakland take with the #7 pick? Even with aaron brooks, their qb is more suspect without kerry collins. OL could use a little improvement. their TEs aren't great. Their DL and DBs could use improvement/depth too.

This is a tough decision as well. The Raiders definitely need speed on defense, as they are very old on that side of the ball but with Hawk, Williams and Ngata already drafted in the top 6, the value is on the offensive side of the ball. I think there is a reason why the Raiders only signed Aaron Brooks to a 2 year deal. If they draft a QB at #7 they can let him sit behind Brooks in '06, challenge in '07 and takes the reigns by '08 when Brooks' contract is expired.

The trick here is to decide whether Oakland gambles (Vince Young) or takes the gambler (Jay Cutler). I think Cutler's mentality fits Oakland's personna much better then Vince's does. Al Davis will have visions of a right handed Kenny Stabler.

I think the Raiders will select Jay Cutler QB Vandy with the #7 selection. They will consider Chad Greenway to add to the defense but you don't get a chance to draft a top QB very often and I don't think they are sold on Andrew Walter to take the reigns.

BTW, Rockey - I think Tye Hill and maybe even Antonio Cromartie have surpassed Jimmy Williams on the CB depth chart for the draft. On your next poll that includes CB's would you consider adding one or both to the survey?

ok. i'll try to figure out who to include from:
Tye Hill 5-10, 185 4.32 Clemson
Ashton Youboty 6-0, 190 Ohio State
Antonio Cromartie 6-2, 208 4.47 Florida State
Johnathan Joseph 5-11, 193 4.31 South Carolina

i too think brooks is a bandaid. i'll go with Vince Young because he seems to fit the raider profile -- near heisman winner and kind of a headcase (aka wonderlicked).

I just thought of this (BTW, voted VY here)with all these signings going on this year... With the phrase"essentially being 1-year deals" being buzzed about more and more, are we in for a second round of the QB carousel next year too?

Which teams that failed to land the Culpeppers, Brees, Brooks, etc of the world this year simply hold their breath that a quality starter(s) hit the market next year?? Would a team not enamored with Young or Cutler load up in another area of need and wait for a QB later? With coaches switching out more and more, who's got the time to groom a QB any more these days... Not this guy.

Don't lambaste me for this thought, as I'm simply typing and thinking at the same time (rarely a good idea knowing some of you around here!!)...

I'll brainstorm on this a little bit more later... Anyway, Oakland selects Vince Evans here. I mean, Vince Young... heh!!

Looks like your not alone in your choice. It seems I've been on an island with some of my choices.

I am not sure exactly how to rank the CB's but I believe Tye Hill is #1 at CB right now. You can argue that Jimmy Williams could be #2 but Huff is still rated higher and it will come down to whether a team needs a S or CB. I'd list Huff, Hill and Williams until 1 gets taken then add Youboty after one gets taken.

It's quite possible. Think about Atlanta and Matt Schaub. They have Michael Vick but are they really committed to him long term? We'll find out based on what Atlanta does with Schaub at season's end.

David Garrard may raise a stink and want out of Jax. If the Titans draft Leinart, then either McNair will be gone or if they keep him, Volek will want to move on too. The Ravens are actually taking a wait and see approach too. They said they will not likely sign a QB to compete with Boller until after the draft because they think McNair could get cut based on the Titans possibly getting Leinart.

I think your idea has some merit. Coaches live and die based on their QB decisions so they will want to find one that can come in and play right away. No more 2-3 year waiting period in the new NFL. It really is what have you done for me lately.

Rockey, I think you can book this one. I appear to be the lone dissenting vote (big surprise, huh?).

i use 4 sources and jimmy williams is still the average #1 pick among CBs. However, teams are starting to look at him as a S, so i'll include him as CB/S in further draft polls and include Tye Hill, the consensus avg #2 CB, as the CB choice.
