Who will Denver take with the first of its two picks, the #15?
They need help at DE/DT, depth at S and OL, and help at WR, RB and TE.

As my opening post suggests, i think WR, RB and TE are their biggest needs. At WR, Rod Smith is aging and they don't really have anybody reliable after the already not-so-sure-handed Lelie. At RB, they're left with Ron Dayne and Tatum Bell, of whom they don't have full confidence in. At TE, they lost Putz and only have the FA Duke remaining as an offensive thread.
Given who is left in this mock, i think they'll go best available with DeAngelo. Yes, Shanahan's known for plucking starting RBs out on the second draft day. However, his recent history has him taking RBs on day one -- see Clinton Portis, Tatum Bell and Maurice Clarett (laff). i think he yearns for a top back, and would still be riding Portis now if he didn't want a contract years early. In this mock, he has DeAngelo fall to him, and with Lendale's recent troubles, Shanny might not want him or Maroney later on.

Yeah, and Elam ain't getting any younger either. Denver is wildly unpredictable, especially being armed with 2 first rounders. DeAngelo may not be around at #22 (see NE @ #21) so he's the man now. Though teams at 16-20 would pass on him, NE may not.
Should ATL have stayed at this pick, DeAngelo would be a Falconat #15 regardless.

Actually, that point about teams 16-20 not needing an RB will make me change my mind. Shanny just got off the riverboat, but he's still a-gamblin'. He'll gamble that DeAngelo IS still around at #22 and instead takes WR Santonio Holmes now, as this WR may be gone via DAL, SD or KC...

I agree with the WR analysis. There is Rod Smith and no one else that teams really respect and/or fear. They drafted Darius Watts hoping that he would challenge but has shown nothing and David Terrell may be an ok #3 this year but I don't think he is ready to breakout. Lelie is reaching the end of his contract and I don't think Denver is planning on keeping him.
I think Moroney fits the Bronco style of running better then Williams. They are looking for a one cut and run upfield type of player. I think they could target Joseph Addai in round 2 or possibly Jerrius Norwood. I just don't think that RB is their top priority on offense.
My pick is Santonio Holmes WR Ohio State

This has been their history except for...Clinton Portis, their most productive RB since TD. They don't necessarily need a one-cut-and-go runner, just one with the ability. Now, if that RB can also put on other moves, like Portis, then they have a special back in Shanny's eyes. My hunch.

I have been voting in silence and not reading all comments for the past 14 picks,so just chiming in for Denver...this year seems to be rich in "moldable" RBs... so Shanny will probably find a guy in rd. 2 or 3 that we all forgot about.
I think Calhoun had avery solid proday and though he's short, he's also off everyone's board. He has speed (4.38) and mostly, differential between speed and short shuttle (4.04), so good hips and acceleration.
And he's just one name.
Hence my own 2 crazy cts. and I say Shanny goes DEF yet again with his 1st rder... He's busted so many cornerbacks, it's not even funny.
He gets tons of credit for RB low picks, but talk about wasted 1st rders on CBs!
Anyway... WR here... or Ernie Sims. I vote for Sims.
