Who will New England take with the #21 pick?

i kinda think bill beliceck's "legacy" is on the line with this year's draft -- the difference between very good/ great coach and "immortal" coach. They've lost a bunch more key veterans coming off a non-superbowl-trophy season, second year without those key OC & DC guys lost before last season. If you look at past draft picks under Beliceck's era, he hasn't done much better than "the next guy". i think he'll need to this season if they want another superbowl run now that the FA market's mostly dried up. (still sittin on all that cash??)

key needs: WR (always), OG depth, RB depth/future, LB depth, DB depth.

(i doubt a TE will be taken, but i'm re-adding 'em just in case bill wants to take the offense on another tangent.)

They have to be set at TE and I am sure Graham is a hot commodity in most leagues.
Again, like every one else, they also have to be thinking that RB is rich and deep enough to wait 1 more round or 2 or 3...!
WR? Ditto... Indeed, Givens is gone but he was a non-drafted, right? Almost... 7th rder. Same thing.
The OL is holding up nicely and last year's rooks will have to step up.

Nah, really, what they lost is a solid LB corps and better CBs... So that's a toss.
But I would go LB and versatile, too. Lawson is the kid.

NE seems to be able to convert DE into LB and vice-versa quite consistently. NE also seems to be convert aging WR into DBs as well. My guess is their luck is running out on both. It should be a LB or DB here... my guess with the uncertainty of both safeties coming back, combined with less that stellar CB, they go DB and take Allen from Tennessee... or Whitner from OSU... or a CB...

The Pats may very well trade down if they can to accumlate more middle round picks to help with their depth. They have issues at LB and WR but neither of these positions are very good at this point in the draft and they may find better value in rounds 2 and 3. I am going out on a tangent as the Pats tend to do from time to time. They still have a good nucleus in the locker room even without Willie McGinest so bringing in someone with supossed "character issues" may not seem as big of a deal for the Pats as it would for some other teams. Corey Dillon will turn 32 during the season and Kevin Faulk will turn 30 in June. They have no depth at RB and could use a back who can move the pile during those Nov. and Dec. Noreasters.

I say the sliding stops here and LenDale White will be come a New England Patriot.
