Practice Squad

Just wanted to throw my $.02 out there about the practice squad. I don't understand why we can't send someone back down to the practice squad after we promoted them to active status or got them from UFA for one of many reasons. For example. If you all haven't figured it out I'm a huge Cowboys fan (ie team name Americas Team..lol) and they would activate WR Manual Johnson when there was injures to Miles Austin and Dez Bryant and then send him back down to the practice squad in a couple of weeks once they came back healthy. And they did this 2 or 3 times through out the season.

Now there are times when we get multiple injures at a position and you need to go sign a UFA. For example my guards are Koiser, Sitton, Carlisle and Mankis. Lets say Koiser, Sitton and Carlisle get injured. I go to UFA and sign Koiser backup Montre Holland (knowing he is a backup and will only play a game or two) Now all my guys are healthy and i'm over my 53 roster spot by 1. I should be able to send him down to the practice squad (as per above like they do in the NFL), instead of haveing to cut him (or another player) and take the contract and salary cap hit. As long as I have an available spot on my PS roster. So if I have a rash of injures at the position again or he earns a starting spot, I can call him back up from the PS.

The Cowboys didn't send Manual Johnson down to the practice squad, they waived him then re-signed him to the practice squad. Each time player is "demoted" he's really going through waivers and is subject to be claimed by any other team. As well, he can choose to sign with any other team's practice squad after he clear's waivers. He just chooses to return to the Cowboys as it is his best chance at getting back to an active roster spot. In this instance we are following the process as it functions in the NFL.

Ah gotcha, thanks for clearing that up, i was unaware or how that worked 100%. The analysts kept saying he was active then sent back to the practice squad not mentioning that middle point.
