First of all, so far this is the smoothest I have seen an EFS draft go, I hope it continues.
Interesting draft, too.
No surprise at 1, where Bush goes as expected. I have doubts about him touching the ball enough to be a great EFS player, but you gotta take him
I am thrilled to get Leinart at 3, I am so desperate for quarterbacking, and the WRs down in Arizona make that a pretty appealing situation, plus he'll likely be the first of this QB crop to get an opportunity.
I was surprised at the second pick being Hawk, especially given that half of the keeper players in this draft play OLB (counting Wembley and Lawson). Still, Hawk is the best of them, and given that he's a tackling machine, will be a very consistent EFS scorer.
D'Quell Jackson went earlier than I thought, but if you gotta have an IB, you gotta have him. No other IB has a chance of making an impact this season, and frankly, prospects for the future are pretty grim for this crew.
I hate the pick of Santonio Holmes, but I am perhaps more desperate at WR than anyone in the league is at any position. My track record with WRs indicates that since I picked Holmes over Jackson, you should immediately draft Jackson, and be confident you got the best WR in the draft. In other news, Michael Jenkins and Rashaun Woods are available for trade.
I especially hate that I picked Holmes given that none of the RBs made it to my next pick. I think all that passed up DeAngelo Williams for another RB will regret it, he is my steal of the draft so far.
And I will never understand taking OL in early rounds of the rookie draft going to bad teams. It'll be a long while before you get any points out of D'Brickashaw. There will be guys starting for better teams available for less than a million during training camp when starters are getting sorted out.
