I for one was somewhat happy with my picks. I am disappointed that AJ Hawk didn't fall to the 1.6 but he has been taken in the top five of most the results I am seeing, hats off to Dayton for that pick. I was surprised he didn't take a rb with that pick though. I am also surprised that Chinchillas took Vince Young since he could be another Michael Vick and let's just sayShawn probablydoesn't have a wall in his house dedicated to Vick.
Man I would have hated to have the 1.1 this year, it is either make or break with Bush hopefully the hype doesn't get to him. Leinhart with the 1.7 should turn out to be a good pick. Addai could also be a good addition but not sure onDallas's next pick with Whitner especially with Huff still available. And of course the team everyone wants to take down picksHuff up at the 1.2, nice pickup. ButDallas recovered nicely with Carpenter at the 2.8.
The Triangles got me again by taking Lawson with the 2.11 but I still made the trade with Chinchillas to pick up a QB for the future in Clemons, may have been a little early but I knew he would not last thru the third round. Well that is all I have time for now.
Any other observations....

Oops! Sorry I was just reminded that the 1.4 was traded to Raven. Sorry Shawn.

Ok I swear I previewed before I posted....Lestat takes Huff at 2.2
Dayton Triangles

Honestly, when I traded up with Lestat to get the 1.3, the plan was to take a RB there. Then on Draft Day, I was leaning towards Leinhart or Hawk. I chose Hawk because I believe he's the most reliable point scorer from day1 in this draft. Leinhart would have filled a stronger need at QB long term, but I also went with Hawk, cause he's a Dayton Ohio native and I love to root for my Buckeyes in the NFL.
Overall, I was happy with my draft picks as well and felt like I got the guys I wanted where I thought they'd be available.

well, here's the comments on my picks, i don't have time to look at everyones rosters and see what they were thinking/needing.
i had 0 picks in rnd 1.
rnd 2 - happy with S. Holmes, the first WR taken in the NFL draft, has a lot of potential. won't start right away with Pitt, but should easily see #3 WR duties this year, and return duties. taken over c. jackson becausethere are so many passing weapons up there in NE for Brady to choose from (maroney, all those TEs, branch and now caldwell)... i had a slight need at WR as well. i had a bigger need at RB, but there wasn't anyone there worth taking - i don't take 5'7" RBs.
rnd 3 - very happy to land the SEC defensive player of the year, D. Ryans, OLB. didn't have a big need at LB right now, but in the near future i will due to some of my aging LBs. there were no other LBs on the board that i felt would come in and start right away, like houston is telling Ryans he has a very good shot at. i passed on D'Qwell Jackson, he'll be battling M. Stewart and now C. Thompson for a spot at ILB. i liked Ryans chances to be on the field, his size/speed, and past performance in college. houston coaching has mentioned he should be on the field for all downs as well...
rnd 4a - Darryl Tapp, a little smallish, but a non-stop relentless pass rusher for a team that needs another pass rusher as g. wistrom simply isn't getting it done (and hes getting old). i'm really not that deep at DL, i have a few backup quality players and what i consider 3 top notch players. i wanted to add someone who would allow me to have steady production at that position in case of a key injury or bye week (and strahan isn't that young anymore - burgess hasn't proven he can stay healthy until last year).
rnd 4b - Brodie Croyle. with a lot of "?" at my QB position (kerry collins, b. volek, p. rivers, and d. brees' shoulder), i needed to land me a QB of the future from a team. so, living in KC, i figured this guy lasted a lot longer than i'd expect knowing that Green will only play a year or two longer, might as well see what he's got for a year or two, i may end up with a gem here.
rnd 5 - travis wilson, WR for Clev, out of Oklahoma. is a big strong WR, not exceptionally fast, but not all productive WRs are sub 4.4 WRs. reports about this guy would've been more glowing had he had a QB on his team and he had a leg injury during the year. oddly enough, reports i read state he could end up starting at the beginning of the yr for b. edwards. who knows, i like his potential and dont really like many of the Clev WRs, even the ones they just signed as FAs this offseason.
rnd 6 - parys haralson, OLB, SF. every place that has a depth chart has him listed as their starting LOLB in the 3-4. a bit small to play DE in the NFL, so he's making the switch to OLB. a pass rushing guy, ranking 3rd all time for Tenn in sacks (behind reggie white and someone else). so, if he does indeed start this year, from a 6th round pick, i'd be happy. if he doesn't start, that's alright, there's not much competition out in SF at OLB, he'll work his way there soon enough.
rnd 7 - roman harper, S, Saints. a little bit surprised that he fell to the 7th round. i know the saints now have a sh*tload of safeties, but this kid was taken at the beginning of the 2nd round and they were shopping their starter during the draft... i dont think he was taken to be a special teams player his entire career. not much risk here with the 7th rounder when he was a top 35 NFL pick.
nobody super eye-popping, other than S. Holmes (who could be eye popping in the future), but i feel a very solid draft, very good prospects that seem to have futures in the NFL as starters.

Here are some general thoughts that I had while giving each teams draft a quick look over and I assigned a grade to each. I didn’t put a lot of time into studying each roster etc. I mainly just looked at who they selected and where it was and made some quick judgments to see if they were early/late, etc.
Raven Maniacs xxxi – A
Getting Reggie Bush, Vince Young, and Ernie Sims is enough to get anyone an A. Adding Tarvaris Jackson at the 4.12 and Joe Klopfenstein at the 5.1 is also very good value that late in the draft. Even with an auto pick of Bunkley late in the draft, I feel that this team will be improved in the years to come with this very Solid draft.
Texas Tittie Twisters – C
Lendale White could be the steal of the draft this season, but I’m not sure I would have pulled the trigger on him at the 1.9. He could wind up as the Steal of the Draft that the Minnesota Vikings had a few years back (Onterrio Smith, self proclaimed Steal of the Draft). Tamba Hali at 2.9 is a touch early, but with the pressing need of DEs in this format, if he develops this could be a nice pick, just a touch early in my opinion. I really like Daniel Bullocks at 3.9. I was going to take another S at 3.12 if he had fallen. I thought it was a touch high for AJ Nicholson at 5.9 and that was before his issues with the Law, but this pick will be one that could end up being a waste.
The Ty Michaels – B-
The guessing game was removed for them, when they came to the draft room and Mario Williams was auto selected for them in error. They were fine with the selection and who wouldn’t be with getting the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft and by far the best pass rushing DE in this years draft at the 1.6. They continued to try and solidify the Defense with Kamerion Wimbley at the 2.6, could be a very solid LB for years to come. I feel there were a couple better options at LB at this point, but a solid pick none the less. Next they traded up to the 2.12 to get Kellen Clemens. I think a touch early, and probably could have been had at the 3.6 position. However, with the Jets position at QB being up in the air, he could be the first of this years QB to see the field.
Chinchillas – A
I was very pleased with my draft. I was happy with Maroney at the 1.2, then trading down two different times in the draft and getting Matt Leinart, Jason Allen, and Thomas Howard. Leinart has the weapons in Arizona, we are hoping that he becomes the next USC QB on the roster to make it to stardom in the NFL. Allen and Howard could both be opening day starters. Allen would give some much needed depth to the DB position for the Chinchillas. I was also very happy with Brandon Marshall falling to the 5.6. I felt he would have been gone by then. Jerome Harrison was one of those picks that very well will be nothing, but at the 6.8, its worth the gamble. I picked up two 7ths in the draft hoping to get Brandon Williams and/or Charlie Whitehurst. However, I ended up with Clint Ingram and Frostee Rucker. Ingram could win the starting job in Jax, so I took him as a potential value pick in the 7th.
Turf Toes – C+
Santonio Holmes was a nice selection, I had him rated as the #2 WR in the draft, but still around where I expected him to go. I liked the Demeco Ryans pick in the 3rd. I think it was possibly a touch early for Tapp and Croyle in the upper to middle 4th. I really liked the selection of Parys Haralson at 6.3, who is scheduled to be an opening day starter in the 6th. WOW. I was hoping for him at the 6.8, but he didn’t fall.
Big Daddy Bulldogs – B
Three selections is all they had, but they had to be happy that DeAngelo Williams fell to the 1.5. Placing him on the same roster as Foster makes this pick even better. Mathias Kiwanuka in the 4th could be good value for this team as Strahan isn’t getting any younger and will eventually need to be replaced. Anthony Fasano in the 7th could be tremendous value if the Cowboys are unable to keep Witten after this season.
Wrecking Crew – B-
Maurice Drew was probably a touch early at the 2.5, but with the importance of the RB position, could very well be worth the gamble. Fred Taylor is getting older and always has had the injury label on himself, and the Jags don’t appear to want Greg Jones to be the every down back. It could be a RBBC in Jacksonville if something was to happen to Taylor. Marcedes Lewis at the 3.5 was a good pick, maybe a touch high, but not by much. Two Jaguars taken by the Crew!! Greg Jennings was a solid pick at the 3.11, as was Jimmy Williams at the 5.10. Overall not a lot of picks, and nothing til the 2.5, but a solid draft with what picks they had to make.
Lestat de Lioncourt XXXi – (B without trades) (A+ when considering both trades)
Michael Huff and Chad Greenway in the 2nd round is more than enough to make up for not having a 1st round pick. Salary issues as well, future round draft considerations, and Braylon Edwards was enough to pry away the 1.3, as well as getting Shaun Alexander and future draft picks later in the draft as well. Abdul Hodge, Daniel Manning, and Marcus McNeil are all nice selections as well.
Dayton Triangles – B
I was shocked to see AJ Hawk go 1.3, but then I remember the OSU connection and was ticked at myself that I didn’t see it coming. Manny Lawson was a solid pick at 2.11 as well. I was salivating for him at the 2.12, owell. The rest of the picks, I would say all went early.
Strange Crew – B+
Vernon Davis and Chad Jackson should help the receiving of this team in the coming years, very nice picks on both accounts. D’qwell Jackson at the 3.4 is also a very nice pick. I think it was a bit early for Leon Washington at the 4.4. Andrew Whitworth could be a very nice pick in a year. He should become a starting OT for the Bengals if he develops this year, as its unlikely that they will sign both Levi Jones and Willie Anderson to contracts for next year. Anthony Smith and Bernard Pollard are nice selections later in the draft as well. Both could see time this year and possibly start some. I didn’t go with an A for Strange Crew, because the delay of receivers making an impact in their Rookie year. A very solid draft.
Dallas Wolverines – B+
Joseph Addai falling to the 1.8. Paul had to be happy to see that. Going to the dream Offense and battling for the starting RB position and falling to the 1.8. Very Nice selection. I think Whitner was early, and not the #1 S in this years draft. Bobby Carpenter at the 2.8 was a very nice pick. Another LB that I was hoping would fall to the 2.12. Jerious Norwood went about where other leagues have been taking him, but didn’t see the trade coming that would send Shaun Alexander packing. Norwood, is a year away at best from getting significant playing time, barring an injury or two. Dunn isn’t getting younger and Duckett is in the final year of his contract and there is talk of him being shipped out of Atlanta. This pick could pay off in the long run. Demetrius Williams is a good prospect at 5.2 for WR as was Tony Scheffler at 6.11 at TE.
Marauders 2 – B
Shanahan is obviously impressed enough to trade up and get Jay Cutler. He is still looking for the next John Elway to lead the Broncos, could it be Jay? This is about where he is going in most drafts, nice pick for the future. Leonard Pope and Sinorice Moss at 3.1 and 3.2 was obviously an attempt to get some receiving help on the team. Both of these players could develop into solid point scorers in the future. Not sure either will be Studs, but solid roll players. I think Brian Calhoun, Haloti Ngata, and Tye Hill were all a taken early. Rocky McIntosh should be a very solid player in a year or so, and was very good value at the 4.10. D’Brickashaw Ferguson was early and Jennings was a nice selection at the 6.10.
Feel free to comment, I went through wrote down what everyone had taken and made some quick assessments based on my opinions. Feel free to rip them apart, that’s part of the fun.
Shawn
Nice post Shaun. Great analysis as usual.
I'm pretty pleased with Greenway and Huff, they look to be solid NFL starters from week one.
A couple of random thoughts:
I think Lendale White is going to end up being a great pick, even at 1.9.
Getting Mario Williams at 1.6 is very lucky, he has been the 1.2 or 1.3 in most drafts. Great pick!
To be honest, I would have given Turf Toes a better grade. I thought Ryans was going to be the SLB, now it looks like he'll be the starter at WLB right away.
The Maurice Drew and Jeriouis Norwood picks surprised me the most.
Overall a nice draft by everyone, good luck to everyone next year!

thanks. i thought it odd that i had such a low grade when i compare the picks i made to the picks others made (and where i picked them at) and the comments he gave those other teams. doesn't matter though, its all for fun anyway.
of course s. Holmes is acting like my dumbass step-son, throwing away a golden opportunity... way to get arrested FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE THE DRAFT, dumbass.
