I will give a try to add my "rookie" commentary to the draft results. It could be interesting to see an first-time observer to this format draft's take on things.

1.01- Reggie Bush- Army of Darkness takes the almost obligatory #1 selection.Bush was selected first in most all EFS drafts so far. With a relatively weak running back corp of JJ Arrington and Shipp, and then the questions that continue to seem to swirl around the featured back status of Tatum Bell, it's a great pick. With some estimates of Deuce McAllister still being 6 months away from playing, Bush will have the field to himself. and Army of Darkness GM Ollie quickly inks Bush to a long term deal and gets a new house for himself out of the deal.

1.02- Matt Leinart- GM Mike Krucek, although not desperate for a quarterback this year, takes Matt Leinart. With both Brees and Trent Green being in the last years of contracts, it sets up nicely for 4D2 to evaluate starting QB's this year and be able to keep one, and Leinart should be in the driver's seat of a fashionable sporty Cardinals offense by next year.

1.03- AJ Hawk- Looks like a natural fit for the Bucky Rules franchise. With the skill positions well-stocked (McNabb, LT, TO, and Steve Smith), bringing an anchor to the defense is a great choice. With Green Bay's defense expected to spend its fair share of time on the field this year, Hawk should garner lots of point production. This team looks to be a team on the rise with this pick.

1.04- Jay Cutler- Cutler's ADP on most EFS drafts has been running around 9th off the board. This could be a bit of a reach at this spot for a Vanderbilt QB. However, withFavre as the only bona fide starter at QB on the roster, it was necessary to grab someone who can step in and play next year when Favre retires (or does he?) Wondering if Vince Young might not have been a sure fire starter next year that would have covered that need for GM Mondt. Banned Camp reaches for a high note with this pick....will he be able to hit the note?

1.05- Vernon Davis- Solid pick by War Hawk GM Glenn Smith. With skill position problems aplenty, Davis should provide a steady point producer for years to come. War Hawks invested heavily in Fred Taylor during the off-season. Early reports are that Fred looks and feels better than he has in a while. Bear in mind, though, it is Fred Taylor. War Hawks GM must be praying for any of the Michael Bennett rumors to come true. Thomas Jones in the early doghouse in Chicago, and no stud wide receiver to pin hopes on, this is a solid pick. Need Payton to produce big numbers again.

1.06- Mario Williams- Smashmouth Bucs GM Keith Tucker gets the #1 NFL draft pick in the 6-slot here. The total package of speed, strength, and quickness and can be the cornerstone of Texans' defense for years to come. GM Tucker must be very confident of Dominic Rhodes ability to beat out rookie Joseph Addai to have passed on Addai at this point. I don't think anyone would have questioned the selection of Addai at this point, which would have guaranteed Bucs to at least have the starting Indy RB, whether it be Rhodes or Addai. Well...unless it is Bennett who ends up wearing the horseshoe on his helmet (see above trade rumor). Good pick, though.

1.07- D'Qwell Jackson- This is one of those curious picks as a first-time EFS player. The highest DQ had gone in any draft I had seen was 1.9, and sometimes as low as late 2nd round. I know this is clearly a selection based on the value of the linebacking position, and the IB position in general. GM Mike Grimm of the RFL'ers likes his linebackers, though, and he gets a good one. DQ would never have made it back to his next selection.

1.08- Laurence Maroney- Banned Camp was fielding trade offers on this pick, as newcomer Purpose Driven Team GM was trying to leap into this position from 1.11 to nab Vince Young. E-mails were sent.....phone numbers were left....but when the dust settled, GM Mondt took Laurence Maroney. GM Mondt was walking the strip of Vegas and Purpose Driven Team GM cries went unheard. With Lamont Jordan as the only proven commodity in the Banned Camp backfield, Maroney is a solid pick that should yield some results this year, but certainly by next year.

HALFTIME BREAK: The website keeps crashing on me, so gonna take a break. Gonna go to the mall and spend time with my wife....:X I will continue later, unless the league revolts and kicks me out.

1.09- Vince Young GM Mike Castaglio of the Expect to Win franchise snags Vince Young as his QB of the future. There was a flurry of trade tries just prior to this pick, unbeknownst to Castaglio, but ultimately he gets a great value in Young. With only Aaron Brooks as an apparent starter, it's a pick that makes sense, and although questions surround Young as his prospects in the NFL, IMO GM Mike got a great QB to build with. Although some WR's problems seem apparent, there was no WR justified of this pick. And with the Cadillac and an emerging Marion Barber III in the backfield, a seemingly smart risk to take at this point of the first round.

1.10- Ernie Sims GM Ollie Radakovitz was up for his second pick in the top 10. With the first, he took the best offensive player on the board. With this pick, he snags a solid LB prospect with tons of upside. A number of Army of Darkness linebackers are in the last years of contracts, so a smart selection to add to DJ Williams. There is some question surrounding Sims as he has had a number of concussions, but the defensive scheme for Detroit is one that has the potential to expose the explosive talent Sims has.

1.11- Michael Huff The Purpose Driven Team, snubbed in its efforts to trade up in order to get Vince Young, had then turned its attention to Ernie Sims, hoping to bolster their linebacking corp. The Army of Darkness, in a classic battle of good vs. evil, thwarted the Purpose Driven Team's choice of Sims. So, being a first-time player in this league, GM Jeff Thompson of PDT opted for what he thought was the safest pick at this stage. An outstanding safety, with great versatility, from a national championship team that can make all the plays. If there is any chance he moves to CB, that would not be a problem for PDT, as 5 of 6 cornerbacks in the last year of contracts. He is a player that will score points this year for PDT, and also establishes himself as a solid player for the Raiders for years to come.

1.12- Joseph Addai GM Mike Grimm, of the RFL'ers had his second pick of the first round. Following up the sound selection of Jackson at IB with his first selection, Grimm goes for the Edgerrin-heir apparent. A surprisingly physical runner that has the toughness to run inside, and also has great hands, is certainly in the right place to be a fantasy stud. Dungy saying all the right things, that Dominic Rhodes will be the starter, but I think Addai's relatively few shortcomings will not hold him back from taking over quickly this season. GM Grimm hoping that Michael Bennett or Chris Brown rumors to Indy don't hold true.

1.13- Bobby Carpenter GM Tracy Bigbsy goes with a little home-cooking by taking one of his Cowboy favorites. As a newcomer, I am assuming Tunaboys like the Cowboy players. A big, tough, physical LB that played in the shadow of Hawk at OSU brings a ton of energy and talent to the big D of Dallas. Already a projected starter at OLB for the Boys, Bigsby won't have to wait long to get production from this rookie. Pass coverage ability is a bit of a question, but Tunaboys get one of their own and look forward to turning him loose.

1.14- Chad Greenway GM Tom Rossi of The Grid Reapers, owners of the league's best record last year, then kept the run going with another OLB selection. Greenway could not have fallen to a better opportunity to shine than the Vikings. A solid 3-down linebacker who, according to Pro Football Weekly, needed to land on a team with a stout defensive line in order to shine in his side to side play. With Kevin Williams, Pat Williams, Udeze, and Erasmus James in front of him, this selection appears to be rock-solid.

1.15- Jason Allen The InOverMyHead franchise, led by GM Steve Henson, then took S Jason Allen of Miami. This selection has boom-or-bust written all over it. Allen, coming off several injuries, one very serious, that makes one question if the body will be up to an NFL pounding at safety. He's a hard worker that could possibly end up as a big corner in the NFL. There weren't many skill positions left at this stage of the first round, but wondering if the versatility of a Donte Wittner, with no background of injuries, might have worked better. Henson is hoping for Allen to go boom......

1.16- Chad Jackson Gm Skip Vergon of the 69ers closed out the first round with the selection of Chad Jackson of New England. This must have killed the former FSU alum Vergon to draft a Gator this highly! When you look at former Gator WR's (Taylor Jacobs, Jabar Gaffney, Reche Caldwell, or Travis Taylor) you tend to get scared from a fantasy perspective. But Tom Brady can make anyone look good. Since 69ers also own franchise QB Brady, I suspect many off-season hours are going to be spent developing chemistry between the two. Jackson a good, solid pick at this point of the first round, as almost every mock had him in the 15-18 range.

Maybe one more round sometime later. I don't want to offend anyone! Also, don't have a lot of time either, like many of you.

Grat job so far. Of course you can't stop now. I'm expecting at least getting through the 4th round. Thanks

Yep, nice job Jeff....strong analysis.

As far as the Mario pick over Addai....well I did consider Addai because I have concerns about Rhodes winning the job outright (my guess is a 60/40 split on carries)but Mario just has the total package and I do have McGahee slotted as my number one back so when looking at the big picture it was a quick decision.

I have decided against doing the 4-round analysis, thanks for asking though. :)Would quickly expose me as someone who is clueless after round 1...then again, some may be saying I was clueless in round 1! I may post a slightly humorous draft analysis over the weekend of everyone's complete draft if I get a chance. I just want you all to know if I say anything at all bad about a draft......it's just all in fun....beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. I wouldn't ever dog anyone too bad on picks, 'cause I know what they could say back! So, look for a slightly unusual draft recap coming up in the near future.

Personally, I wanted no piece of Vince Young. I'm drafting for the long term here, and Cutler will have Javon Walker and maybe Ashley Lelie after this year, while Young will have ...

Young will have ...

Ben Troupe and Bo Scaife?

Had Favre announced his retirement, I probably still would not have taken Young, because I wouldn't want to start the rookie QB. I would have sought a trade and drafted either D'Qwell Jackson or Vernon Davis.
