08 Rookie Draft start date??

historically we have always tried to hold our Rookie draft very soon after the players who were drafted this past weekend are entered into the EFS system. Therefore, does anyone have any objections to starting this draft as a 1440 (24 hours between picks) on May 8th, at 8am ET - assuming the players are in the system by them?

I like an early draft... it's more like the real NFL, when we don't have visibility of who is going to wash out or get hurt. 5/8 is good for me.

One thing though. I'd really prefer a 720 draft (12 hours). Here's my reasoning: 9 or 10 of our owners are going to watch the draft closely and pick within a few hours of the prior pick. Some will do it in minutes, some will have to wait 6 or 8 hours until they wake up or come home from work. OK, no problem. The other 3 or so are going to drag things out - and have the computer pick for them - no matter whether the deadline is 4 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, or 3 weeks. So, why not reduce the pain on everyone else? Drop the limit down to 12 hours and keep things moving...

That said, a 1440 draft is ok, I guess. Sigh.

Lastly... here's my annual whine... Please, please use the draft lists and the VAC flag. It's painless. I do it every year, even if I'm online and watching the draft. It just works better - the computer enters your pick for you. No typing (once everything is setup) required. You can adjust things right up to the moment the pick is due. And, heaven forbid, if you get called away from the computer for something trivial like childbirth, arterial blockage, winning the lotto, sleep, or ... gasp... work, 7 or 8 guys aren't waiting by their computers cussing you with every other breath. Rant/whine concluded.

my advice to everyone- if we are within 8-10 picks of your next pick, and you have to go to work, school, or sleep then pls use the Vacation flag. put in your list of players in preferred order and the system picks for you....one word of advice-always put in 1 or 2 more players than you actually need.

this will keep the draft going and we wont be sitting around waiting for certain owners every time their pick comes up....that gets annoying....so pls dont be that guy!
