View Full Version : Much like the Hawkeyes, 'Kinnick's' Pride is suffering

With a three year starting QB (and former league MVP) returning, along with solid RBs, young talented WRs, top TEs, experienced lines on both sides of the ball, quick LBs, and duel senior Safeties, my Hawks looked like they might do something special this season. Well, 11 games later, we're sitting at 6-5, with a probable loss at Minnesota looming this saturday. Needless to say, this has been beyond disappointing, it has been dreadful.

Much like Kinnick Pride in EFS. We can complain all we want about our two starting QBS losing their jobs within the first month of the season, or our top T (on a top scoring team) watching each week in street clothes, or our young stud ILB not being able to keep his nose clean, we could complain about that, and we have .... (women just don't understand the pain we go through when lose top players in fantasy football, do they?) ..... but we sucked it up and moved on. And yest, here we are, much like Coach Ferentz, wondering what could have been.

Iowa heads to Minneapolis to try and salvage their season this Saturday. it starts tonight for KP. Can Carolina hang 30 on the Buccs at home? And protect Delhomme? The odds are against us, but we're used to it. History suggests, Hangartner and Bridges will combine for around 32, to go along with Bidwell's 14, and we'll lose by 20 somethine. But maybe something magical will happen in the land of the Panther tonight. Perhaps Mr. Smith will explode on the national stage, or Mr. Foster will finally live up to his hype. If we can salvage 1-1 this week, it sets up a meeting with Superpios next week, where we can get back to within one game of the division lead.

Optimism is a wonderful thing.

Damn, Jason, I had forgotten you live in the land of corn. Had I remembered, I would have tried placing a wager with you on last weekend's Iowa/Wisconsin game. My older son and I were glued to the tube as we watched the mighty Badgers crush your struggling fowl.

Pretty cool to see 'em zoom from the depths of the unranked to #12 in the country (and #9 in the BCS), baby!!

I was just happy to us play with some heart. I was scared of a 31-7 or 31-14 blowout. Wisky's D is tough this year. Good luck in Orlando against whoever.

Yeah,I thought some of those off. line matchups you were talking up a few weeks ago seemed a bit optimistic, but you never know. Living down here in Carolina I see everything thats going on with the Panthers, and, last nights ugly victory over a terrible Tampa team notwithstanding, they've got plenty of their own issues. Their off. line is mediocre at best, they have no running game, and Delhomme ain't the one to lead them to the promised land.Fact is,they are Peppers and Smith and 20 other nobody's. Speaking of Smith,of course,I have to give the Slappers a little slap("he's peaked").Looks like catching the mighty Superpions is gonna be tough,he's really rolling. But,hang in there Jason, stranger things have happened.

'Smith' is the exact reason I like their Olinemen in this format. I mean, 80% of the throws to him are slants over the middle, which take about 2 secs to develop, thus avoiding sacks on Jake. If I can get 20+ points a week out of any of my OL, I'll take it. The one bright spot from last night is that Car averaged 2.6 yards per rush with Ruud manning the middle for TB. Maybe Quarles days are finally numbered.

My big prob next season is with Tiki retiring. Snee, Diehl, OHara all looked like good core guys :PThat and, of course, whether or not Odell can lay off the pipe.

Alvin, looking back, I prolly should've accepted your offer (the one for Cole) but I'm not gonna lose sleep over it. Perhaps someone will need a top DE in the offseason. I need to makea choice on 2 of the 3 and just go with it, instead of always playing the wrong 2 (eg: Alex Brown this last weekend)
