Owner renewal is due after week 13 for teams that don't make the playoffs. It's due at year's end for everyone else.
Last year the system allowed non-playoff teams to access their roster after the week 13 cutoff date. This year, that cutoff date will once again be enforced. Please don't be surprised come tuesday if you didn't make the playoffs and you're sent to the payment page.
i will be taking the system downsometime between tonight and tomorrow afternoon to install the necessary modifications. i will try to keepthe downtimeto 30 minutes or less.

i'm going to try to have this in by noon eastern.
Rockey,
A suggestion if I may - In the NFL when a team is eliminated from the playoffs they still can "sit and watch" from the sidelines. By sending us right to renewal you are prohibiting us from completing the entire EFS season. How do we now determine who has won our championship if we no longer can access the League Site? IMO what should be done is something to just allow us to view our league so we can see the results, not make any changes or anything like that. Block that feature from us but PLEASE allow us to complete the current EFS season by allowing us to see the end result.
Comments are appreciated!

Well, i agree with the sentiment of this post but not with one fact. "you are prohibiting us from completing the entire EFS season" is not accurate. If you miss the playoffs, your season ended. This non-playoff owner renewal feature also keeps teams who missed the playoffs from last-minute royal-farkups of their team before the new year. If you renew, then you can make pre-new-season cuts and extensions, as well as see the end result as it happens.
Stan or Bryan can weigh in with what they think of the above.
I like the idea of a view-only feature, but that's actually a big modification, so i don't see it happening until 2007 renewal time at the earliest.

All I am saying is the season doesn't end until the Super Bowl is over. Renewals are completely different than the EFS season being over. I do agree we should renew now but the season is not over. It is not completely fair to prohibit those from seeing who won their league that was fully paid for prior. I completely agree that something had to be done to prevent people from tanking their teams. But is this the answer? Long and short of it, please tell us how we can find out who wins our league that we paid for already if we no longer have access to our league?
I'm not upset, just surprised. I am a long standing customer of EFS and will continue to be and will renew my teams. I just don't see this as fair for others.
Why not just turn off all abilities to cut, bid, and modify a team and allow access to the site? Or at least allow access to the playoffs? This is what it's all about.
Thanks for not bashing me too much!

I don't want this to turn out to be a bitch session because I'm not upset. I just think for those owners who might be sitting on the fence about renewing, this doesn't help them decide yes when they can't even watch and see how the playoffs go, especially those first year owners.
Anyhow...you guys know I appreciate the hard work.

I would like to add that we are working on some things that might help here but I can't say for certain just yet. Having said that, we must do everything we can to protect our product and our paying customers. This for one will always be my main focus. If your team did not make the playoffs, then your season has ended for 2006.
We also need time to see how many open teams we have going into 2007 as we want to start leagues back-up ASAP. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to email me directly.
Happy Holidays,
Keith
I understand what is being said, just understand my point. How can you promote a product with the hopes of a renewal by an owner and not allow him to see the end result of what EFS has to offer? Like I said below, if I was a new owner for 2006 and got eliminated from the playoffs, I certainly would want to see how the playoffs work and what happends before renewing my team.
I just think more thought should be put in this for existing customers. While we want to eliminate orphans as much as possible we can't prohibit the fantasy experience by blocking out the playoffs.
Anyhow...also like I said below, this isn't a bitch session. I just wish you guys could understand my point. Thanks again though for the hard work and timely responses we have been getting. As a side note, that part of EFS has improved greatly over the last month or so.

I agree that to implement a new design for this current post-season is a bit much to ask for, but would adding the new functionality really be so complex?
Why not just add a flag column with a required value restricted to "Good Standing" or "Not Good Standing" inthe appropriate table for every team? Once the renewal date has passed, a rule would look in the table that stores payment info, and if the team hasn't renewed, the "Not Good Standing" value would be triggered.
Anyone with a value of "Not Good Standing" would have their user security privileges constrained to Read-Only.
By adding something like this at the top, it wouldn't seem so difficult to allow the system to recognize when a user should have Read-Only limitations on a global scale. Navigation through the site, via menus and links in an effort to simply access visuals from the database, would operate just as before. However, any attempts by such a user to alter anything in the database would either be disabled or rejected depending on the current structure you're working with.
Just a thought for whenever you look at this topic more closely.

Going forward 2007-and-on, all renewals will come at the end of the year, not team-specific efs season.
