    Default question about a RFA...

can an owner essentially trade the rights to a RFA? for example a player i'm looking to trade for is a RFA free agent on another team. i like what his salary is and i'm need of a player at that position but at the same time if someone were to bid his salary to a point i wasn't willing to pay, i wouldn't mind having his draft pick compensation as well. the owner is willing to trade im but we weren't sure.

    just wondering.

    thanks,

You can trade any RFA player prior to RFA starting. Once RFA starts, you cannot trade any RFA players.

But there is no reason to unless you personally hate the player and don't want him on your roster.

Yes an RFA eligible player can be cut before RFA starts.

there is some players that would give me no picks in RFA and i would rather not wait a few months for them to be off my roster

Technically they are "on your roster", but they are not counting toward any salary or contract caps.

when will RFA actually start? right now the message indicates 'about Feb 16'....getting close so to be sure I assume we should all be assigning Franchise Players so as not to be left out?
